After the passing of our friend – and a friend to countless Star Wars fans – Craig Spivey, not only do we deal with our grief but also focus on the wider efforts to raise much-needed funds for cancer charities. Raised in Craig’s beloved Leamington Spa, artist Cole Henley has chosen to take his artistic skills and use them for good, drawing postcard sketches of your favourite characters (starting at £20.00 for a sketch, though you are more than welcome to donate directly to the charities starting from £5.00) with all proceeds minus the cost of postage going to Myton Hospice and Macmillan Cancer Support charities.
I was gutted to hear that Craig Spivey sadly passed away last week after a prolonged fight with cancer.
Craig was diagnosed with cancer at the same time I had a suspected lung cancer diagnosis. We had never met in person but having grown up in Craig’s beloved Leamington Spa and both being fans of Star Wars we had chatted on social media for some time. During our various pokes, prods, tests and tribulations Craig always provided a warm and comforting ear and had a canny knack of checking in when things weren’t going too well.
So with the sad news I wanted in some small way to pay tribute.
With Craig being a massive Star Wars fan (a huge understatement) I thought it fitting to tap into something I could do to offer help to those charities that meant something to him and supported him through his diagnosis and illness.
I am offering Postcard sketches of your favourite Star Wars characters, weapons or vehicles, or you or a loved one as a Star Wars character of your choice for a minimum £20 donation. All proceeds after postage will be donated to the Myton Hospice and Macmillan Cancer Support charities.
Head to Cole’s page for the full details and disclaimers and support some very worthwhile charities.
