Monday 17th May 1999 saw an incredible guest list of visitors drive to Marin County, along Lucas Valley Road and through the gates of Skywalker Ranch to attend an MTV hosted premiere party like no other, and what a guest list it was.

Along with George Lucas and the Lucasfilm staff present there was future Deadpool Ryan Reynolds, Barry Pepper from Saving Private Ryan, pop sensations Hansen, Paul Rudd 16 years before he became Ant-Man, Break Stuff era Fred Durst, Dennis Rodman’s then-wife Carmen Elektra, the Godfather of Metal Ozzy Osbourne, Rob Zombie, future star of The Boys Jessie Usher, Orlando Bloom and Elijah Wood (two years before they’d be seen together in the Lord of the Rings trilogy) 98 Degrees, Katie Holmes, pre-Robot Chicken Seth Green, Third Eye Blind, Star Trek Voyager guest star Andy Dick, Tori Spelling, Francis Ford Coppola’s sister (and Rocky Balboa’s wife Adrian) Talia Shire and her son Jason Schwartzman, 90210 and Charmed star Shannen Doherty, Poker Face star Natasha Lyonne, T2’s Edward Furlong, Tatyana Ali and more, all gathered on the front lawn at Skywalker Ranch before seeing Episode I.

There was swag, food, drinks and clearly plenty of excitement, and for the public waiting eagerly for the film to arrive just two days to go until the long, long, loooong wait for The Phantom Menace finally ended.

While you’re in Episode I mode, be sure to head to the always brilliant Star Wars at the Movies and read their account of the journey to The Phantom Menace.
