News has surfaced via an interview with K-2SO actor Alan Tudyk that he won’t be returning as the droll droid in the Andor Disney Plus series, at least not yet. Discussing the forthcoming Andor series he explains that he will be a part of the show, but not in its debut season.

“They’re shooting it right now, I’m not in it. But, if it stays on the air, stories keep getting told, I’ll end up in there.”

When he does return for the show, the challenges of informing the character physically could prove to be interesting, given his own advancing years and the requirements of the role.

“I do know this: I have to be on stilts for it, because the character is 7’1″, and I’m not one of those guys that says, ‘somebody else do the motion capture, and I’ll voice it later’.

I’ll have to do the motion capture, and I turn 50 in March, so I hope they get to it soon, because I’m not going to be on stilts in, like, five years. I’m not doing it!”

Whatever happens, Tudyk is clear that season one won’t see the arrival of K-2SO but further seasons – and that’s key, this confirms that the show is designed to tell its story over more than one season – will welcome the former Imperial security droid into the story.

“I’m going to be in the show. It’s just that the story that Tony [Gilroy] is telling doesn’t involve K-2SO until later on… I can’t be too specific, but I can definitely say that I’m not going to be in the first season.”
