Just over forty-one years ago, Return of the Jedi first arrived on UK screens after three years of development and filming in UK studios, and as highlighted in the much-missed Bantha Tracks fan magazine, the triple bill gave fans to finally watch the trilogy. After Jedi finsihed, ITN were there to get viewers reactions to what was then the final Star Wars film.

2 June 1983, the day that Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi first hit screens in the UK. The night before, fans in London were able to attend a special triple-bill screening of all three films in the original trilogy, A New Hope (1977), The Empire Strikes Back (1980), and Return of the Jedi (1983).

ITN’s cameras caught up with them as they queued outside the Dominion Theatre on Tottenham Court Road, and heard some of their reviews of the newest installment as they left.
