So where are all the characters right now in Star Wars?

A look at the characters we’ve grown to know over the last few years, and what they may be up to when the Dave Filoni directed movie comes out, in no particular order.

Ahsoka and Sabine: stuck on a planet in another galaxy with Professor Huyang. Now that Sabine’s got her Force powers, she can properly train to be a Jedi. Ahsoka The White continues.

Ezra Bridger: Back in our universe with a lightsaber, I think he’ll become Jacen’s Jedi Master. The father’s apprentice now trains his son. As George Lucas said, Star Wars is like poetry, it rhymes.

Hera and the rest of the Rebels crew: She’s got to be looking for a way to get to Ahsoka and Sabine now that she knows they are alive in another galaxy. However, she’s on shaky political ground and her command in question.

Baylan Skoll: Making his way towards the statues of the Mortis gods and that shiny mountain in the distance. How’s he supposed to break the never-ending Star Wars cycle of Jedi and Sith? Also not sure how they’ll handle the death of Ray Stevenson.

Shin Hati: The new leader of the red-armored bandits with her non-explained orange lightsaber. Baylon did promise her that she would have a place in the new Empire; it’s just her “Empire” of bandits.

Grand Admiral Thrawn: The new warlord of the Imperial Remnant in the galaxy but he’s beholden to the Nightsister Witches, since they can bring his troopers back to life with their magiks. Not sure what he has to do on Dathomir with all those caskets, but hopefully he can defeat/ally himself with other Imperial Warlords and consolidate their troops and materials into his own. If Legends is any indication, he will also have a professional relationship with Captain Pellaeon (whom we’ve seen in holographic form ready to throw in his lot with Thrawn).

Captain Enoch: One of the coolest designs coming from the Ahsoka series, Enoch is the head of Thrawn’s troops (come to think of it, we never saw the officer corps or the guys who piloted the ship or even droids). Hopefully he stays in his current armor and we find out where he comes from. He knows the language of the bandits (or at least commands to their dog/horse Howlers) and has Thrawn’s complete trust.

Din Djarin and Grogu: New home base on Nevarro, hired by Carson Teva to go after Imperial Remnant Warlords, which would now include Thrawn. Maybe he goes after the Imperial Council, collecting bounties from the New Republic. Plus, we need to find more about Grogu’s escape from Order 66!

Carson Teva: Apparently the sole voice of reason who sees the Imperial Remnants (now to include Thrawn) as a danger to the New Republic. He has a great relationship with Din Djarin and Grogu, employing them to go after Warlords. Head of the Adelphi Rangers, an X-Wing squad that includes Zeb Orellios.

Cobb Vanth: Presumably still the Marshall of Freetown, but with new cybernetic enhancements. It’s no Mando armor but he’ll still look cool.

Bo-Katan Kryze: Comfortably the head of Mandalore, with hundreds of Mando warriors ready to go to war against the Empire. Plus she has an unbreakable bond with Din Djarin that will come into play for season 4 and the movie. And holy crap, she saw The Mythosaur alive and well in the same Mandalorian Forge they just relit.

Greef Karga and Marshall IG-11: Holding down Nevarro, the new home base of Din Djarin and Grogu.

Migs Mayfeld: Ex-Imperial Sharpshooter, on the loose after Din and Cara Dune (likely not included on the list or returnees). Has no love for the old Empire, much less Thrawn’s new Empire.

Senator Xiono: This corrupt, power hungry Senator deserved to be punched that entire Ahsoka episode. I know his son plays a big role on the animated side. Would he really sell out to the Imperial Remnant? Maybe to the First Order down the line? Either way, he’s there to make serious trouble for all of our heroes, making it that much more difficult to fight Thrawn and his army.

The Armorer: Despite some shifty behavior in Season 3, the Armorer remains the spiritual leader of the Mandalorians. Unless she shows outright traitorous behavior like leading her own to the slaughter and throwing in with the Imperials, she should continue to hold this position in society.

Boba Fett: Still the Daimyo on Tatooine. I would assume he would be there with his new cohorts like Black Krrsantan, Fennec Shand and the Mods.

Jack Black and Lizzo: Two of the more unique characters who, like Coruscant citizens, couldn’t care less who’s in charge of the galaxy as long as they’re in charge and get paid.

Luke Skywalker: Trying to train Jedi on Ossus. He couldn’t keep Grogu as a Padawan and since there are no other new Jedi in the galaxy, he waited until Ben Solo came of age to start training other Padawans at his Academy. He would still be active during this time as the galaxy’s only official Jedi. On a side note, I doubt any of the original trilogy characters would be in use for this time period. Except for cameos, these guys are in the past.

Leia Organa: She’s the firebrand Senator serving the New Republic. Like Hera, she’s on shaky political ground, doing an end-route around Senator Xiono and really ticking him off. Is she pregnant with a baby Ben Solo yet or training to become a kinda-Jedi?

Han Solo: Probably bored with staying in one place with Leia and her career

Emperor Palpatine / Snoke: Holy cow, this is a big one to answer. It’s only been a few years since Palpatine and the Death Star blew up, but the Imperial Remnant/Sith Order are on Exegol where they’ve grown a new body for Palpatine (that will prove to be too weak to hold his Force abilities and essence). Are they developing Snoke as well? Both projects (apparently listed by the Remant Council in The Mandalorian) use the midichlorians of Grogu, which will involve Din Djarin soon.

Elia Kane: The traitorous Imperial Amnesty officer who scrambled the brains of Imperial Scientist Pershing (a genetics expert who could probably help Palpatine and Snoke). She remains inside the New Republic, biding her time until Gideon is recloned or throws her lot in with Thrawn.

Skeleton Crew: We don’t know yet! Perhaps Jude Law’s Jedi traveler can be included in this massive epic!

Michael Davis
Michael F. Davis became obsessed with Star Wars after repeated viewings of The Empire Strikes Back on VHS and a 1983 viewing of Return of the Jedi in movie theaters. He also saw all the Special Editions in the theater, bought all the Shadows of the Empire tie-ins, and even took a bus trip to Maine to see The Phantom Menace. He is currently employed as a Librarian in the US but has always has his sights on a galaxy far, far, away….
