Via our good friend Andrew Preston a look at Winspit Quarry, the latest exterior UK location for Star Wars: Andor down on the Dorset Coast.
I went off on an adventure today, to see if I could find the filming location for the new Star Wars TV Series ‘Andor’, at Winspit Quarry in Dorset. I didn’t think I’d be able to park close by, so I had a beautiful 3 mile walk in along the coastal footpath.
I found the location but sadly filming had finished yesterday and the crew were in the process of dismantling the sets – but there were still some interesting pieces of set dressing around, and I had a quick chat with some of the crew members. I couldn’t get into the location itself but there were plenty of vantage points for photographs on the path round the top of the quarry.
I also got to take home (with permission from the Location Manager) a ‘To The Set’ sign! Apparently the filming only took a few days, they got what they needed, and Diego Luna hasn’t been at this location. Other than that they weren’t giving much away!
A great day out nonetheless, and I’m looking forward to returning for a closer look after the series has been screened.
