Make Ready Lads!

Having been a Naval Officer for a career of 24 years, when I hear the term “Make Ready” many thoughts and memories come to mind as sailors hurried about getting the ship ready to get underway. But this week, I learned that a “Make-Ready” is also a term used in the comic business.

According to Ryan Penagos, Vice-President and Creative Executive at Marvel, a make-ready is not so much a mock-up, but a full version of the final comic from the printer, just with the color guides and no staples.

Pictured is the make-ready for the April 24th release of Galaxy’s Edge #1.

So heave those lines, batten down the hatches, host the sails, and make-ready for the next Star Wars comic mini-series.
