Released on 7th November, Secrets of Power is Star Wars Unlimited‘s 6th set which contains 264 cards (112 Leaders, 361 Event cards, 75 Bases, 9 Token Units, and 1 Force Token), and in this set the focus is on subterfuge and manipulation, as opposed to more direct topics in previous sets like one on one fights and battles.

Available as a pre-release box containing six booster packs, the regular booster packs contain 1 Hyperspace/Showcase leader card, 6 premium foil cards, 1 foil rare or legendary card, 1 Carbonite-exclusive Prestige card, 4 Hyperspace cards, 1 Hyperspace rare or legendary card, and 2 Hyperspace foil cards, while the two spotlight decks focus on Chancellor Palpatine and Padmé Amidala which contain a pre-built, ready-to-play 50-card deck. As a starter to Unlimited (which I still very much am) this is the easiest way to dive in, although most folks buying Secrets of Power will likely already be well into the game, having originally launched with the first set Spark of Rebellion back in March 2024.

The rules of the game see players setup their game by laying down their Base and Leader cards, choose who starts the game, shuffle and then draw 6 cards, choosing 2 to keep as resources to be used to pay for cards through the game. So, the Base card, the Leader, your two resources, the Hand of 4 cards and the remainder of your Deck, and then the Action phase which sees the player either play a card, attack with a unit, use an action ability, take the initiative or pass. The regroup Phase sees the players draw cards, fresource a card from their hand and ready their cards (including exhausted cards, units, resources, and leaders). Once the cards are readied, go back to the action phase and continue.

This sixth set looks to expand the gameplay wihtout being too dense and complicated for new players, who will no doubt be drawn to the very attractive artwork, which superb as always, bringing 264 new pieces of art to the Star Wars art gallery, well worth owning for any Star Wars fan.

Sadly since my review of Legends of the Force I’ve not had the opportunity to join any games, but I’m still eager to do so as this game is attractive to my collectors eye and I’m keen to know more.

You can hear me chat with Unlimited designer John Leo at UK Games Expo 2025, and as ever stay Tuned to Fantha Tracks for new release info as it arrives.
