Finally, a trailer! Well two actually. The silence has been broken, with the first 45 second teaser airing as part of the NFL Superbowl celebrations. Yes, we can finally concur that Solo: A Star Wars Story is not a myth. It does exist! A full trailer airs on Memorial Day, but for now the chaps and chapesses of Fantha Tracks give their first thoughts on the newly released footage.

As C-3PO would say: “Thank the Maker”. At last, Solo becomes a reality and in that fleeting 45 second tease it looks pretty awesome to me.
Whatever production problems have occurred during its making, I am now more than ever confident that this will be no turkey. The naysayers can line up – and will do – ready to slate what looks like a cool and gritty entry in the Star Wars canon.
We can pretty much establish from the enthusiastic Imperial officer in the teaser that Han Solo is pictured in the early stages of joining the academy – the one and same that Luke spoke of in A New Hope, where Biggs and Tank had allegedly signed up to.
Tie Fighters, Tie Bombers, Star Destroyers, a pristine Falcon and a reassuring arm on the shoulder from Chewie. Bless you Ron Howard. This looks amazing.

Where do we start with this 45 seconds of awesome? We start at the beginning, with another regional accent (Australian) and a query to a young would-be smuggler of what he wants to do with his life. It’s interesting, we hardly see Solo. We get a great shot of Lando Calrissian in a black fur coat, a back shot of Chewie, Emilia Clarke and Woody Harrelson (nice comb over Woody) and a swathe of new armour, but no full on shot of Solo himself – and I dig that. He’s the center of the film, the one thing we all want to see, but as Sunday bleeds into Monday and the full trailer awaits, I can handle it, it’s only one more sleep….
The train scene has shades of Shadows of the Empire and the IG-88 level, and the droid (perhaps the Phoebe Waller-Bridges character?) certainly feels like a mid 90’s LucasArts droid (and I say that in the most fan-pleased manner possible).
There’s a definite air of pace, action, adventure, love and plenty of nods to a four decade past. Those speeders look just superb, there’s even more new armour added to the ever-swelling ranks of the Empire and their armoured divisions (UKG, you are going to be VERY busy) and the big bad, of which we get a brief glimpse.
No word on if that is the actual music from the film or a temp piece, but either way I’m liking it, and the Falcon. Oh, the Falcon….I am beyond keen to see that beauty fly, walk the corridors of the most famous ship in the galaxy before it was abandoned in a Jakku junkyard.
So naysayers – what say you now?

I have been somewhat excited for Solo: A Star Wars Story since they announced it….but now, I’m so ready to see this movie!
I thought the teaser flowed really well. You get an essence of what the movie will be like, but there is still so much left open. A true teaser! I loved the visuals of the Star Destroyer coming out of the clouds, the woman dressed in gold, Lando in fur, the Millennium Falcon flying, and that last image of Han and Chewie! I would have been happy if this was actually the full trailer!

OK, so a teaser for a trailer to hit in the next 24 hours – that’s new. But WHAT a teaser!!!
So we have the Falcon doing Falcon-y stuff and an Imperial officer question someone (Solo?) about what they want to sign up for? A possible hark back to the old EU story of Han being an ex- Imperial who rescues Chewie ?
Too early to draw major conclusions, but it looks Star Wars-y and for me echoes the Rogue One trailer – so it’s going in the right direction.
Loving the footage and Alden look great as a younger Solo – roll on tomorrow(and May!!!)

Amazing teaser. New droids, new planets, new friends, new foes. The trailer score is NOT by John Powell (he confirmed to my comment on Facebook), and the main droid we see was created by Neil Ellis, Pierre, and Glynn Dillon. Alex Hutchins and James Clyde designed the train, the L-1 droid series from Rogue One makes a reappearance, and now there are two of them during the speeder chase.
As we ride in that speeder which looks like a book, I look in the rear view mirror and The Last Jedi is behind me as we look forward to going Solo.

Well that was one big tease! Yet again I am left with more questions than answers and that is a good feeling to have from a teaser trailer!
The fast pace meant the glimpses we saw give us an insight into the tough and somewhat bleak life that Solo and Lando had before we met them in the OT, but then as you thought what a tough life – it ends with a giant Wookiee hug!
Perfect!

Has a heist feel, right away it felt like it was the episode from Firefly “The Train Job”.
Also feels like Han Solo Begins, except not directed by Chris Nolan. Lol.
When Lando and Woody’s character popped up made me excited, and the last shot with Chewie patting Han on the shoulder, wow!
I’m liking the look of it so far.

I think that was about as good a teaser as I have seen – I feel like I have seen so much and so little all that the same time! It was much darker than I was expecting but I am fine with that however I expect to see more humour as the film gets closer. I am also really pleased at how much it felt like a Star Wars film and the images just looked stunning. So far so good and am now pushing the F5 button on my pc as I wait for the full trailer.
