Running for the whole month of October and celebrating its 14th event, Star Wars Reads is back and once again the focus is on getting kids reading and writing. Once again there are downloadable activity packs, events at libraries and as ever the focus is on sharing Star Wars literature with young or lapsed readers. For the longest time, the Star Wars story was primarily led by reference books, novels and comics, so what better way to celebrate that than participating in Star Wars Reads month?

Running from October 1st through October 31st in collaboration with First Book, a non-profit organization dedicated to building a world where every child has access to a quality education, this year’s Star Wars Reads activities also focus on supporting under-resourced communities with book donations, support from Disney VoluntEARS, classroom resources and activity kits, as well as engagement opportunities with Star Wars authors.

To kick off the celebration, Lucasfilm Publishing and First Book are hosting a livestream event with First Book’s Network of educators across the country, including learning activities, a virtual class visit and Q&A with Star Wars authors Charles Soule and his daughter Rosemary Soule.
