2020 “May The Force Be With You” Day at Bloomberg Children’s Museum

Good news for PA kids! A favourite event organized by the Bloomberg Children’s Musem will be back on Saturday July 18th. In a difficult summer that is seeing most of summer camps in Pennsylvania cancelled, this is a most welcome relief. Adults have many more alternatives to have fun, they can enjoy a Pennsylvania lottery welcome offer and add thrill and excitement to their summer days. Children, on the other hand, are missing many favourite social activities. The 2020 edition of the “May The Force be With You” Day will offer them an opportunity to experience some galactic emotions live.

Children are invited to show up for the event dressed as their favorite Star Wars characters and spend a few hours in fancy Star Wars activities like dunk-a-trooper, jedi obstacle course, blast-a-trooper. They will get to make their own lightsabers. Professional Star Wars characters will be there to meet the children and take pictures with them. The Museum has announced that there will be new games and new activities but they haven’t disclosed more details yet. Do not fear you will go hungry! Food vendors will be present. Big Dan’s BBQ will take care of all things grilled and juicy. Udder Delites has the home made ice cream. The Cookie Dude is the one to keep your sweet tooth satisfied.

The “May The Force be With You” Day is a fundraising event for a good cause. The Bloomberg Children’s Museum has sponsored an Art and Science Center since 1996 to serve the region. They have also developed traveling hands-on museum exhibits that serve 17 school districts in the 5-county Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit area.  They describe their mission as “fostering a lifelong love of learning through enjoyable interactive programs and exhibits that bring out the imagination of every child and the child in every visitor”.

Apparently it is working because families will children love the experience. The 5.50-dollar tickets for the Star Wars event will probably be sold out in a flash. They will be issued in a limited number to maintain social distancing.  According to Pennsylvania Department of Health guidelines, tickets will be sold in advance. They are mandatory. Not even Museum members will be allowed to enter without a ticket.

A portion of the Museum will be closed to maintain social distancing. Indoor restrooms and additional facilities outside will be available for ticketed guests. There will be specific admission times, so check up what your ticket says. For example, a ticket starting at 12.00 p.m. will not grant access at 10.30 a.m. On the other hand, if you bought a ticket for entrance at 10.00 a.m. and do not show up by 11:30 a.m. your ticket will be forfeited. No refunds will be given.

The Children’s Museum is a rural non-profit corporation that has been in business for 35 years. Operations are run both by staff and volunteer committees. It is located in Bloomsburg, Columbia County, Pennsylvania. The Museum offers more than 50 interactive exhibits. They also organize birthday parties, field trips and scout programs.
