Best destinations around the world for Star Wars fans in 2023

At some point in their lives, most Star Wars fans want to be on the set of a film or series. What are the destinations and which are the best options this year? Our editorial team went to find out!

The places that Star Wars fans need to travel to are great for getting into the mood of the film series, as they are either filming locations or otherwise heavily Star Wars-inspired destinations. There are also a number of sites from The Force Awakens film that you can visit.

There are many places around the world where you can pilgrimage, such as the United States, Central America, Iceland, Europe, and Asia.

World-famous landscapes: Ireland

The stunning scenery of the Skellig archipelago off the southwest coast of Ireland was brought to the public’s attention by Star Wars: The Force Awakens and is the setting for several scenes in the latest Star Wars: The Last Jedi film series.

The archipelago consists of just two islands, the larger of which is Skellig Michael, the island most familiar from the films.

Although long unknown, the isolated islands have been significant in Irish history, with the ruins of a monastery on Skellig Michael Island dating back over a thousand years. The monastery is one of the country’s three UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The islands are also famous among birdwatchers, as they are home to a number of bird species including loons.

The Skellig Islands can only be reached by boat and even that is only possible from April to September. However, even in summer, bad weather can prevent access to the islands altogether. Various boat trips are organized for tourists to the islands, but only some of them can go ashore to explore Skellig Michael better.

Disney Star Wars Hotel

Florida’s Disney World has gained a new attraction to woo fans of the super-popular Star Wars movie to the theme park. It’s the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel, where a stay promises to be a total experience.

However, you must be prepared to pay a hefty price for the experience. The hotel only sells two-night packages, “cruises” on a spaceship called the Halcyon, which transports travelers to and from Star Wars planets.

Iceland

The northern parts of Iceland have their own special character. There are plenty of hot springs and volcanic rock formations that look like something out of a movie. The Krafla caldera, a bowl-shaped formation formed by the collapse of a volcano, is just one of the places in Iceland where Rogue One was filmed.

Other film crews have been inspired by the same scene, including scenes from the popular Game of Thrones series.

Seville, Spain

Episode II – Attack of the Clones was filmed in Seville, Spain, among other locations. The historic Plaza de España was used as a theatre for the planet Naboo. However, the size of the plaza was not to the liking of the filmmakers, so in post-production it was enlarged with special effects to make it larger.

Grindelwald, Switzerland

Princess Leia’s home planet of Alderaan is depicted as beautiful and mountainous. The Alderaan scenes in Episode III – Revenge of the Sith were also filmed in a beautiful and mountainous location, Grindelwald, Switzerland. The same location was also used for the filming of the James Bond movie “His Majesty’s Secret Service”. More about this fast casino goer you can find in uusi-pikakasino.com.
