Is It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia on Netflix?

Like you already saw in the featured image, yes this show is on Netflix. So why can’t you find it whenever you look it up?

It’s simple – It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia isn’t available to stream on your country’s library. To watch IASIP on Netflix, you actually have to be in one country: the UK. Don’t believe us? Just follow the link we left. It’ll take you to StreamCatcher, which is a site that showcases the availability of Netflix titles by country.

Why is IASIP only available on Netflix UK, and how can you unblock it?

We’ll answer those questions (and more!) in this article.

Why Can You Only Watch IASIP on Netflix UK?

We can only take a wild guess since Netflix never spoke about this title in particular. But their FAQ article about licensed content gives us a pretty good idea of what might be going on.

Basically, Netflix was only able to license IASIP for the UK. They probably weren’t able to get licensing rights for other countries because their competitors already have them. For example, in the US, Amazon Prime Video and Hulu stream IASIP.

Also, Netflix probably didn’t want to get global licensing rights for this show because they didn’t think it’d be a profitable move. Sure, IASIP is an awesome TV series, probably one of the best comedy shows ever made. But not everyone has the same taste in comedy around the world. And if Netflix’s data says that some regional audiences wouldn’t be interested in IASIP, they’re not going to buy licensing rights. It’d be a wasteful investment, after all.

We know, that sounds pretty awful for you, the consumer. But please consider this – Netflix dedicates a huge amount of its budget to licensed content. If it were to just make random investments that don’t generate a good ROI (recurring subscriptions, new users), they’d go bankrupt pretty fast.

How Does Netflix Restrict IASIP to the UK Library?

They use geo-restrictions to do that – a type of content control that lets sites decide what content you can and can’t see based on your geo-location.

In Netflix’s case, their site likely checks what your IP is when you visit it. That way, it can see what country and city you are from. If you’re not from the UK, Netflix sends your traffic to the content library that matches your country – the one that doesn’t have IASIP on it.

How Can You Unblock IASIP on Other Regional Netflix Libraries?

Is there any way to switch Netflix libraries?

Not directly in the app or site, no. But there is a cool workaround: VPNs. They’re online tools that hide your IP. If Netflix can’t see it, it can’t tell where you’re from. And without that information, it can’t geo-block your access anymore.

What does Netflix see instead, though?

The VPN’s IP – the IP of the VPN server you’re using, to be exact. Here’s how your connection to Netflix will look like:

You just need to make sure you’re using a server that’s in the right location: in this case, the UK. When you visit Netflix, the site will think you are actually physically located in the UK, so it will send your traffic to the UK content library.

From there on, it’s just a matter of looking up It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia on Netflix, hitting Play, and enjoying this great comedy series.

Which VPN Should You Use to Unblock IASIP on Netflix?

There are literally hundreds of VPNs on the market, so we know how difficult it is to find one that’s right for you.

Well, for starters, don’t use free VPNs you randomly find on the app store. Yes, they’re attractive, but they’re totally not worth it.

Why?

Because they won’t work. They can’t refresh their IPs very fast, so Netflix eventually blocks them. That means you’ll see this screen extremely often:

And that’s not all – free VPNs also have very slow speeds, bandwidth caps, and ruin your streaming experience with ads.

Okay, so then which paid VPNs should you use?

Well, the ones recommended by StreamCatcher work really well: ExpressVPN, NordVPN, and PrivateVPN. ExpressVPN is our favorite because they recently developed a proprietary protocol called Lightway. It has blazing-fast speeds, and connecting to a server (anywhere in the world) only takes a fraction of a second!

Besides those providers, you should also check out CyberGhost VPN and Surfshark. Here are their highlights:

  • CyberGhost VPN has dedicated streaming servers for Netflix. They refresh their IPs very often, so they’re less likely to get blocked.
  • Surfshark supports unlimited parallel connections. That means you can use their service on as many devices as you want.

Can You Unblock IASIP on Netflix with a Proxy?

Yes, that’s a good unblocking method too. A proxy is basically just a VPN with weak or non-existent encryption. It too hides your geo-location by masking your IP and tricking Netflix into thinking you’re from a different country.

Should you use it instead of a VPN?

Well, that’s up to you. We personally wouldn’t recommend using a proxy because the lack of powerful encryption means your ISP will be able to throttle your Netflix speeds. With a VPN, they can’t do that because they won’t know you’re using Netflix (they can’t spy on your traffic because it’s encrypted).

However, if you never experienced bandwidth throttling and are not worried about it, a proxy can be a good alternative to Netflix.

IMPORTANT: Avoid free proxies! They’re even slower than free VPNs. Not to mention they’ll spam you with ads and maybe even expose you to malware.

How Do You Unblock IASIP on Netflix?

Do you also use a VPN? If yes, which provider works best for you?

And if you don’t use VPNs, which unblocking tools do you rely on instead?
