The 5 Best Characters in the Star Wars Franchise

Star Wars has brought us some of the most iconic movie characters over the past few decades. Whether a hero or villain, each one has interesting and unique features

The franchise has released content outside of the big screen, such as many video games, with some being much better than others. One exceptional game was Star Wars, the Force Unleashed where you played with the main character – Starkiller, Darth Vader’s apprentice. And with the advent of smartphones, there are plenty of Star Wars mobile games to take advantage of, all with iconic characters.

Nonetheless, in this piece, we dive into the five best characters ever in the Star Wars franchise – whether in movies, games, or comics. Let’s get started!

5. Luke Skywalker

The original protagonist where the show started, Luke Skywalker is often described as a fan favorite. Played by Mark Hammil in the original trilogy as well as Episodes 7, and 8, Luke is a skilled Jedi, looking to bring down the Empire and later on the First Order.

In the original trilogy, we follow our hero on a mission to destroy the evil empire, with plenty of twists and turns along the way. However, in the Disney trilogy, Luke has the role of Master rather than the young apprentice.

Finding Luke was a key factor in Episode VII, where he had been a hermit, somewhat like Yoda in the original trilogy. The location where it was filmed was the Skellig Islands in New Zealand, a picturesque collection of Islands, remote from civilization.

The Kiwi nation is a massive fan of Star Wars, holding an annual convention and playing Star Wars-related games. One that is gaining traction is Star Wars-related slot games like Star Wars, made by 777IGT.

Even better, to help Kiwi players, online platforms compare all the best online casinos, which list the top online casino operators with the best features and games that also have the Star Wars slot. In addition, you can also find the latest welcome bonuses and read reviews on each operator to give you a comprehensive understanding.

4. Darth Vader

Easily one of the most recognized villains in movie history, when we first saw Darth Vader, he looked terrifying. His charismatic voice, as well as his imposing costume, made him an instant fan favorite, as well as the mysticism behind him.

Previously Anakin Skywalker, the first 6 episodes tell the story of the rise and fall of Vader, as well as his redemption in the Last Jedi. His knowledge of the force, as well as his amazing lightsaber skills make him an unforgettable character.

3. Obi Wan Kenobi

Obi Wan Kenobi is one of the main characters throughout the series, playing a vital role in Anakin and Luke Skywalker’s life.

In the New Hope, he played a fatherly figure who taught Luke everything he needed to know, and ultimately lost his life to his apprentice – Lord Vader. Nonetheless, this made Luke stronger unbeknownst to Vader. Therefore, he played a key role in the downfall of the empire.

2. Yoda

A legend in the Jedi world, Yoda was an aging master in the original trilogy who played his part in training Luke. The mastermind behind the series Lucas, really wanted to get across the point that power can come from the most unlikely of sources.

In the prequels, we also saw Yoda fight and use the force against Count Dooku and Darth Sidious, which was exciting, and gave us an idea what power Yoda had in his younger years.

1. Palpatine

The main villain of the franchise, Palapatine personified evil. His thirst was only for power, eventually getting his way in Episode III, forming the new Galactic Empire.

Also known as the emperor, Paplpatine had great knowledge of the force and was a master swordsman, killing many Jedi in the infamous scene with Mace Windu. In the Disney sequels, he was also able to keep his grip on power, creating Snoke, and ruling the galaxy from the periphery.

His lust for power had no boundaries, manipulating and killing who he had to, to become the Emperor. The role was played by Ian McDiarmid, who did a terrific job.
