Gold is a WoW foundation. You need it for consumables, repairing gear, getting aesthetic mounts, purchasing items from an auction house, etc. How do you get gold for all these expenses? Farming. On this page, the OnlyBoosters team will share with you the best gold farming methods applicable to Cataclysm and Dragonflight expansions. Let’s start!
Professions
Leveling out and exploiting one of the WoW’s professions is a natural way to earn money. Professions’ relevancy has changed from patch to patch. For example, in Cataclysm, Blizzard has added a Vial of the Sands mount, which is fresh and in demand. If you can constantly craft these mounts, you’ll have a decent income. As the Vial of the Sands is an herbalism-produced item, you must level it to 525 first.
What about Dragonflight? There’s nothing special about this expansion; therefore, any character-improving profession is in demand: enchantment (gear enchantments), jewelry (attribute-enhancing jewels), and so on.
You can also give a chance to fishing. Many, even experienced WoW players, sleep on it, thinking it’s useless – they’re very wrong. Fish in high-end Cataclysm (Uldum, Mountain Hyjal, Deepholm, etc.) and Dragonflight (Forkriver Crossing, Timberstep Outpost, Waking Shores, etc.) zones to catch ingredients required for a buffing raid dish. Players are buying it constantly.
Mob Farm
Another popular and, based on our testing, very effective farming method is mob killing. You may approach it in two ways. The first is when you gather a lot of trash mobs (low-HP common mobs) and farm them in clusters.
A good example of this tactic is farming young crocolisks in Cata. You can do it in Uldum, in Pit of Sands, where you must stand on the eggs to spawn packs of young crocolisks who drop resource-filled bags. This method gives you a 6,000+ hour profit. However, if you combine it with a skinning profession, you can get even more.
You can also farm elementals in Cata. They inhabit all high-end Cataclysm zones like Hyjal, Uldum, etc. Farming elementals will not only reward you with profession-required items (Volatile Air, Volatile Fire, etc.) but also with a ton of trash that you can sell to vendors.
In Dragonflight, mob farming is narrowed to killing elites. It’s because Blizzard started to add more mobs of this class in later patches, making farming them more consistent. Elite mobs to consider farming are Collidus (sell eye patches), Tanaan Jungle rares (sell toys), and Brullo the Strong (sell Brul pet).
Gold Buying
Undoubtedly, the easiest and quickest available gold farming method is buying WoW retail gold. Here’s how you can use it:
- Pick a gold-selling platform. Based on our testing, SkyCoach and LFCarry are the leaders in the market. The former allows you to buy from hundreds of different sellers, while the site acts as a safety guarantor. LFCarry sells gold to you directly. What’s also cool about this site is that it allows you to divide a gold price into several payments;
- Adjust an order. You must select how much gold you want and your faction, server, character name, and delivery speed (the faster the gold arrives, the more you will pay);
- Pay. Boosting sites accept credit/debit cards, e-wallets, and crypto;
Soon, a manager will contact you to connect you with a gold seller. He’ll explain to you a gold-acquiring process. According to our testing, you’ll get your entire gold amount in 15 minutes after talking to the seller.
Worth Mentions
While the three gold farming methods mentioned above are the best for Cata and Dragonflight, they aren’t your only options. How else can you farm? For Dragonflight, farming mythic+ dungeons is a nice choice. They will drop you a bunch of resources that you can sell in the auction house or use for professions and further selling.
A gold farming method that is unique to Cata is selling a Dragon Soul raid cooldown. It must stop at the alive Hagara. What’s special about this boss is that it contains a ring that only rogues can steal. They need it to acquire legendary daggers. To sell Dragon Soul cooldown, look for rogue buyers in chat.
And finally, you can boost other players. If your character is capable of farming mob clusters in high-end locations or completing dungeons solo, this farming method is for you. Look for your clients in chat. They will pay you for the number of exp-farming runs. However, before going in for this farm, we recommend you check out some YouTube guides, as they will help you deliver much better services.
