The release of Star Wars Outlaws has brought us another great new game based on the franchise. However, it won’t be the last Star Wars game we see, so what are some of the other titles being worked on just now?
Star Wars Eclipse
Although it was announced by Quantic Dream as early as 2021, there are currently some doubts about whether the Star Wars Eclipse game will ever see the light of day. It’s been described as a dialogue-heavy and narrative-driven affair where your decisions determine what happens next. The action is going to take place during the High Republic Era, setting it around the same time as the recently cancelled Star Wars: The Acolyte TV show.
The cinematic reveal trailer looked exciting but didn’t tell us anything about what to expect from the game itself. It was reportedly still in pre-production when the trailer was produced, and various online articles suggest that there’s little chance of seeing the finished game before 2026 at the earliest. The developer’s latest game was 2018’s Detroit: Become Human, but it’s unclear if they’re currently still working on Eclipse so we’ll need to wait for future updates to be sure.
Star Wars Jedi – The Third Instalment
The third installment of the Star Wars Jedi series is currently being developed by Respawn Entertainment, to be released by Electronic Arts. 2019’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and 2023’s Star Wars Jedi: Survivor focused on Cal Kestis’ journey as a new Jedi Knight.
Expect to see it follow a similar path to the first two games, with Cal using a series of different lightsabers as he battles his way through the universe against a series of enemies. We may also see a continuation of the theme of Cal being tempted by the dark side. According to this update, it could be 2027 before the game is released.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake
Released in 2003, the original Knights of the Old Republic is a classic role-playing game that sees the player take on the role of a Jedi trying to defeat Darth Malak. The player’s decisions and actions then lead the main character towards the dark or light side. This is still regarded as one of the best video games of all time, and hopes are high that the remake will keep up the same level of quality.
The influence of Star Wars can be seen in non-franchise games like Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and Fallout 4. The science fiction genre is also part of the online slots industry, where there’s a list of casino bonus offers for new players. Games like Reactoonz and Robospin aren’t based on Star Wars but provide a sci-fi feel that could appeal to fans of the genre. Other themes covering fantasy elements and ancient cultures add variety.
The upcoming Star Wars games should delight fans, but even as we wait for them to arrive, there are plenty of other options to explore. This franchise has inspired many other games worth exploring, or you could re-discover older games based on Jedi adventures and the battle between good and evil.
