Will Star Wars Slew of Video Games Win New Fans or Satisfy Existing Ones?

Since Electronic Arts Inc. and the Lucasfilm franchise contract ended, several Star Wars upcoming video games have been announced. On top of the existing Star Wars games, new games are to be released and existing ones remade. Fans are looking forward to the new releases, but there are mixed feelings about the remakes. Imagine a remake of some of the best Star Wars titles: Knights of the Old Republic, Civilization, Empire at War, and Stellaris. A development could be excellent, but changes might also ruin the essence of the story behind these masterpieces that attracted fans in the first place. Are there names for the upcoming titles and remakes?

Star Wars Video Games & Star Wars-Themed Slots To Be Released

On top of the recent releases like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, more video games are coming. Below are some of the new games being developed for Star Wars fans. If they are interesting enough, Star Wars can attract even more fans. There haven’t been any reports of upcoming Star Wars-themed slots yet, but we are hoping for an add on the existing ones found at new Trustly casinos with top-notch games.

  1. Hunters – is a free-to-play combat game with Zynga and NaturalMotion as the reported developers behind it. It was supposed to be released sometime in 2022, but there we reported delays. The release date has been postponed to 2023. Once the game is released, you can access it through Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android devices. The game features unique characters who bring the setting of the fall of the Galactic Empire to life.
  2. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor! – This is a sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The software behind it is Respawn Entertainment, and the game will be released between the end of 2022 and early 2023.
  3. Eclipse – the release date for this game could be as far far away as 2024, and fans have been waiting for it since the release of its trailer in 2021. It seems like Quantic Dream is still working on its development of the promised deep narrative with subdivisions created with possible player choices in mind.
  4. Other Untitled Games – more games that haven’t been titled or confirmed yet are coming. Developers such as Respawn Entertainment, Ubisoft, Massive Entertainment, and Skydance New Media will be creating some of these games. They will fall under exciting genres such as action-adventure, first-person shooter, story-drive open-word, and more.

A Remake of Some Star Wars Existing Games

A remake that has fans talking is that of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR). This is not an easy change to accept as fans received this game very well, and it has been listed as one of the best, if not the best, on many platforms. This 2003 game will be revamped from the beginning to the end. Still, the developers, Aspyr and Sony Interactive Entertainment, promise to keep the primary features loved by existing fans while making developments that will allow new ones to relate to the game.

Overall, Star Wars fans are excited about this remake and only hoping for the best, especially with the uncertainty of the release date. It has not been confirmed yet, and since 2021, it has been postponed from one year to the next. Hopefully, it will be before 2024, and the video game will be as satisfying as the original.

Will They Attract New or Satisfy Existing Fans?

There are mixed feelings about the remake of KOTOR as fans fear that some things will occur or will be added that they don’t want in it. But there’s also excitement about features that may be added that they would love to see on this video game. Whether this game will attract new fans or not, we don’t know. But, here’s what existing fans are hoping for:

  • That the remake will be made canon
  • For the story to be expanded so players could explore new planets and the game could be more appealing to young people
  • The graphics to be improved to high-resolution standards
  • To appeal to new players, so the excitement around the game is reactivated
  • To allow players to choose the protagonist’s gender

What fans don’t want:

  • New game developers, the old ones know it better
  • Long periods of traveling
  • Microtransactions’ feature
  • The same plot twist at the original KOTOR
  • A disappointment that ruins the original masterpiece

Our Verdict

There are many Star Wars fans, and they are always looking forward to new releases. They are not always happy with every video game released, but when it’s good, it is celebrated and enjoyed for years. Sequels and remakes must be as good as the original because they could ruin everything for players. This is why they trust or prefer the original developers for them and would like certain aspects of the game to be kept. We can imagine the pressure of most developers and other companies working on the flood of upcoming Star Wars video games. Hopefully, the constant change of release dates ensures these games meet fans’ expectations.
