As we pass the 20th anniversary of The Phantom Menace and celebrate the 37th anniversary of the final day of filming on Return of the Jedi, here’s a look back to the 80’s when Dale Pollock, he of Skywalking: The Life and Films of George Lucas fame, discussed the Maker in two interviews.

Hard to believe – in an age when such insightful tomes as The Making of Star Wars by J.W. Rinzler and The Star Wars Archives by Paul Duncan have delved deep into the minutia of the saga in such engaging ways decades removed from the making of the films – that Pollock’s book was one of the essential reads of its time along with the must-read Once Upon a Galaxy: A Journal of the Making of The Empire Strikes Back and The Making of Return of the Jedi.
