While the common perception is that Star Wars and Star Trek have been at loggerheads for decades, the saviest fans know that not only do the two great franchises compliment each other, but there’s also a healthy amount of overlap, including – amazingly – Leonard Nimoy, who narrated Standby: Lights! Camera! Action!, part of his show on Nickleodeon that looked at the making of Return of the Jedi. Here, producer Jim Bloom (The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi) remembers his time working with Nimoy on Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

Jim Bloom, a producer on The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, shares a small but unforgettable moment with Leonard Nimoy.

In this short anecdote, Bloom recalls a playful exchange over a walkie-talkie and Nimoy’s perfectly judged, wordless response. A raised eyebrow and a look that instantly recalled Spock. It is a lovely reminder of how different corners of film and television history often intersect in unexpected and very human ways.

Taken from a longer conversation on episodes 61 and 62 of The Filmumentaries Podcast.
