Twenty years ago we were over halfway through the prequel trilogy, yet all these years later people still quibble about the style and content of the trilogy, specifically the ‘wooden dialogue’. Speaking with The Guardian, Hayden Christensen touched on this, along with a number of other topics, pointing out how George Lucas was pitching the trilogy at a very specific style.
“George Lucas creates such a unique world where everything is so specific, from the way these characters look and the way that they talk, and I feel like sometimes people lose sight of that and they expect them to speak the same way that we speak – and that’s not what we were going for.”
With Christensen back in his signature role of Anakin Skywalker – now existing under the evil guise of Darth Vader – in Obi-Wan Kenobi, which arrives on Disney Plus in just 2 days time, it will be interesting to see just how much that dialogue has changed between the years as the galaxy toils during its Dark Times period.
