We could be getting more UCS fan votes in the future

Fan votes that saw the arrival of the UCS Republic Gunship could happen again according to LEGO Star Wars Creative Lead Jens Kronvold Frederiksen and Design Director Michael Lee Stockwell who discussed the topic recently with Brick Fanatics.

“It’s certainly something that could happen again,” Jens tells Brick Fanatics. “We were very, very positively surprised about the amount of people who actually replied to that, [and] the huge interest. Plus, it’s also great to actually make models that we know are highly requested by the fans.”

“What we’re doing in general also – especially with big models – is following different forums, and we know what fans would like to see as models, so we’re trying to fulfil that,” Jens continues. But before you begin pouring out your wish list to anyone who’ll listen – and, hopefully, the LEGO Group – Michael warns fans to manage their expectations.

“We are also considering many other things when we’re putting an assortment together, because these things have to harmonise well with what’s being carried over from previous launches, and what’s in the pipeline from Lucasfilm and Disney,” he explains. “The fans may or may not be aware of some of the things that we’re aware of.

“That’s why we have to weigh all these different parameters before making a final choice. So we may agree wholeheartedly with a suggestion, but may not feel the timing is right. And we therefore need to postpone or wait a bit before doing so.”

Excellent news, LEGO are listening closely and seem keen to involve fans as much as they can.
