Fans of digital comic releases will no doubt be aware of ComiXology, Amazon’s digital comic publishing platform, but news has reached us from some keen-eyed Rebel spies that the dedicated website is to finally be absorbed by it’s parent in the coming weeks.

From February 17th the Comixology URL will direct you to your local Amazon shopping site, and you will need to merge your Amazon and Comixology accounts (or create an Amazon account if you don’t have one).

There is also concern from comic fans that some of the current benefits of the ComiXology platform will be lost, such as subscriptions which will no longer work outside of the USA, meaning users will have to ‘follow’ a series and remember to order each issue each month.

We’d strongly urge any ComiXology users to check out the full details on the website for the full information so that you can be ready for the changes*.

And of course, nothing beats the feel and smell of a physical comic book and there are plenty of local comic shops which will handle your subscription needs as part of their service, so this may be a chance for you to change your habits and ‘shop local’.

*No Bothans were harmed in the delivery of this information.
