Taking place this past weekend at the Holiday Inn Indianapolis Airport, DroidCon 2025 brought together droid builders from the States and far beyond for a weekend of talks, panels, workshops, building and more. Over the weekend we brought coverage from Day One, and here’s footage from the second day of the event. Head to OnlyDroids.com (yes, you read that right) for more images.

DroidCon 2025 is the ultimate gathering by the Builders, for the Builders—a four-day event where droid enthusiasts, makers, and tinkerers unite to share knowledge, showcase creations, and collaborate on new builds. Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or just getting started, you’ll find hands-on workshops, expert-led presentations, and plenty of time to connect with fellow builders who share your passion for bringing droids to life.

This year, we’re turning up the volume with a special tribute to DJ R-3X, the galaxy’s most famous reprogrammed pilot droid turned cantina DJ. Get ready to groove to the beats and immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere inspired by R-3X’s journey from the cockpit to the dance floor.

Event Highlights:

🔧 Hands-On Learning – Step into the continuous soldering workshop, where skilled builders will help you master the art of soldering. We provide a variety of mini-soldering kits covering everything from basic electronics to Star Wars-inspired projects, and you’re welcome to bring your own work as well. Thanks to our long-time sponsor, Hakko, all equipment is provided. While the kits are free, we encourage donations to help offset material costs (not required, but always appreciated).

🎤 Live Presentations – Throughout the day, the main ballroom will host a lineup of design discussions, technical deep dives, and even the infamous Ask Me Anything (But Don’t Record This Session). Presentation topics come directly from the community, and we are actively seeking builders to present.

🌙 DroidCon After Dark: The Mystery Build Challenge – When the sun sets, the real challenge begins! Ten teams will battle in a mystery build-off, assembling and customizing an unknown creation. Materials will be provided, but teams must be self-organized with at least five members to compete. The winner, chosen Sunday morning by community vote, walks away with the ultimate prize—bragging rights and endless accolades! Details on what happens to the builds after the event are still TBD—so get ready for a surprise!

🎭 Charity Auction & Wrap-Up – Get ready to bid on one-of-a-kind donations from top builders and even coveted items from the Lucasfilm Archives. 100% of all proceeds go directly to support Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, making this a chance to win amazing collectibles while giving back to a great cause. The live auction runs for about two hours and serves as the official wrap-up for DroidCon. We accept both cash and credit for all winning bids.

📢 Important Change: Table Space is Now Reserved! – Due to the overwhelming growth of DroidCon, all table space is now reserved and must be purchased as a Table Add-On with your ticket. Each reserved space includes a 24” x 72” table with two chairs, and all belongings must be kept within your designated area. Droids will be displayed separately along the perimeter walls to ensure clear walkways and ADA accessibility. If you need a table for your display or sales, be sure to reserve one when purchasing your ticket!

🔥 Unwind & Connect – While not an official event, many builders gather by the firepit on the patio in the evenings to relax, share stories, and enjoy some well-earned adult beverages. Seating is provided, and the ballroom doors remain open all night, making these two spaces the social hubs of the event.

🤖 Droids on Display – While table space is reserved, all droids will be lined up along the perimeter walls to ensure a smooth, accessible experience for all attendees.

🎟 Swag & Merch – Every ticket includes a commemorative DroidCon 2025 patch and collectible event badge. Additional patches and challenge coins will be available for purchase on-site while supplies last, and official DroidCon 2025 T-shirts can be ordered through a third-party provider (https://my-store-d999ff.creator-spring.com/listing/droidcon-2025).

DroidCon is more than an event—it’s a celebration of builders, creativity, and the community that brings us together. Grab your ticket and be part of the magic!
