Appearing onstage at this weekends Megacon Orlando, John Boyega was asked a very on-the-nose question regarding his future in the Star Wars galaxy, and that of his onscreen counterpart Finn. When a fan apparently shouted, “Get Dave on the phone,” Boyega gave a response regarding the President and Chief Creative Officer of Lucasfilm Dave Filoni that will have fandom buzzing and chatting about the possibilities.
While speaking during a panel, Boyega, who is best known for portraying Finn in the Star Wars sequel trilogy (The Rise of Skywalker, The Force Awakens, and The Last Jedi), was asked about the possibility of reprising his role in future projects. One enthusiastic fan reportedly shouted, “Get Dave [Filoni] on the phone.” And the actor’s response immediately grabbed the audience’s attention.
The star stated, “I actually have, actually,” implying that discussions with the President and Chief Creative Officer of Lucasfilm, Filoni, may have already taken place. The brief but significant comment likely has Star Wars fans in a frenzy as they eagerly await the potential return of Finn in future projects.
Filoni, who has become an integral figure in shaping modern Star Wars projects such as The Mandalorian and Ahsoka, is widely seen by fans as someone who could meaningfully expand Boyega’s character. Many viewers have expressed that Finn, who was introduced as a stormtrooper and later joined the Resistance, had untapped potential and deserved far more screen time.
We’ll be sure to pick up this topic on a future episode of Making Tracks, which shall return on Tuesday with a special episode where we chat with ILM legend Stuart Ziff and Propstore’s Brandon Alinger.
