It’s not just Disneyland and Disney World that are getting Star Wars park expansions. Disneyland Paris will also be getting a smaller Star Wars themed area, and while not the size of the 14.1 acre Galaxy’s Edge expansions in the States, it’s going to be a sizeable area nevertheless.

Attractions Magazine take a closer look.

The new expansion will be centered around a large lake, about 7.5 acres in size, which will also serve as a unique entertainment stage with a 360-degree viewing area. The lake will be outfitted with the latest lighting, sound, special effects technology, and fountains to create water-based shows.

“This new, open-air development will add to the beauty and immersiveness of Walt Disney Studios Park, while providing the perfect center stage for not only daytime shows, but also nighttime spectaculars. It will completely rejuvenate the park’s experience,” said David Wilson, site portfolio executive for Euro Disneyland Imagineering.

The lake will also be the gateway to new themed areas surrounding it. An area inspired by the animated film “Frozen” will be the cornerstone of this new expansion, featuring a re-creation of the port of Arendelle and a 160-foot-tall mountain. Nearby, “Star Wars” fans can live their own Star Wars story in a galaxy far, far away.

Both areas will include a major attraction, a dining location, shops and character encounters.

We understand the Star Wars area will be roughly half the size of Galaxy’s Edge and the ride would appear to be Rise of the Resistance and not Smugglers Run (if you look at the concept art in the video below you will see its Poe’s X-Wing parked and not the Falcon) The new areas will be rolled out over several years, with the first opening in 2021 (it is suspected the first area to be opened will be Marvel but fingers crossed for Star Wars!)
