From our great pals James Floyd (Star Wars Crossword Puzzles, Star Wars Insider), Melissa Miller (Star Wars Insider, Fantha Tracks), along with Jake Rowlett (San Diego State University’s geography department) this is their ‘Star Wars Film Tourism: Visiting the Galaxy Far, Far Away on Earth‘ panel from last months San Diego Comic Con where they discussed a number of filming locations across the globe that fans of the saga can access and experience.
One of the Star Wars panels from San Diego Comic-Con 2026 last July is now up on YouTube for everyone to enjoy. “Star Wars Film Tourism: Visiting the Galaxy Far, Far Away on Earth” has been released as episode 81 of the podcast Star Warsologies, along with a video version containing the presentation slides to accompany the panel audio. The panelists included Fantha Tracks contributors / galactic travelers James Floyd and Melissa Miller, as well as Jake Rowlett of San Diego State University’s geography department.
The panel highlights visiting a variety of Star Wars filming locations around the world, spanning the whole saga, from A New Hope locations in Death Valley, California to the Portuguese Island of Madeira for The Acolyte. Also included are British locations from the prequels, sequels, and shows, the Imperial Sand Dunes and redwood coast of California, and Skellig Michael and other spots in Ireland. The panelists share their personal experiences and prodive handy travel tips for visiting different filming sites.
Upcoming episodes of Star Warsologies, a podcast about science and other fields of study and Star Wars will contain some other of James’s and Melissa’s Comic-Con panels, including “Grogu’s World: The Science of the Mandalorian”.
