Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023: Lucasfilm Showcase – Disney Plus projects

The Lucasfilm Showcase, THE panel that everyone needed to see hosted by BBC Radio 1 film critic Ali Plumb, delivered big time as along with the three new movie announcements there were cast reveals and further information rolled out for the Disney Plus slate of TV projects.

First off a look at Andor, now filming its second season and returning late summer 2024 with footage from the second season shown exclusively to the crowd in the room.

Next, The Acolyte, revealing a brand new logo and the news that it was pitched to Lucasfilm as “Frozen meets Kill Bill,” a very unique description if ever there was one. Amandla Stenberg came in full Attack of the Clones Padme cosplay, while Joonas Suotamo will portray a Wookiee Jedi. The show will arrive 2024 and Kathleen Kennedy has seen and was blown away by the first four episodes.

Next The Mandalorian, as Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni and Rick Famuyiwa explained their mission brief for the third season, to show the wider galaxy with Famuyiwa explaining how the final episode of the season ties both The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett together to this point. With the cast and crew now onstage, the crowd were shown a video of Pedro Pascal who was unable to attend and learned that the seventh episode of the season will be shown tonight on the Celebration Stage.

Next up it’s Skeleton Crew starring Jude Law, Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Kyriana Kratter, Robert Timothy Smith, and Kerry Condon and the reveal that the show will indeed arrive in 2023. Director Jon Watts confirms the directors slate for the season (Jon Watts, David Lowery, The Daniels, Jake Schreier, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Lee Isaac Chung) and the news that the series will feature the pirate vane, first seen on Nevarro in The Mandalorian.

Ahsoka, arriving August 2023 and bringing some very welcome looks at characters from the much-loved Star Wars Rebels. With star Rosario Dawson onstage, hints at a second season and Kathleen Kennedy praising the directorial work of Dave Filoni, a clip is shown as Sabine Wren actress Natasha Liu Bordizzo and Hera Syndulla actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead are featured ahead of the trailer.
