As 2024 recedes into the night sky like a classic Star Wars scroll-up, leaving us with countless great memories of literature, TV both live-action and animation, gaming, conventions, collectibles and meet-ups, it’s time to look to the horizon like a restless teenage moisture farmer.

First off, listen to Mark and Mark look back at their highlights of 2024 on Making Tracks 2024 Fettrospective.

There’s plenty to plan for and look forward to, so here’s a smattering of what’s in store for 2025, the 48th year of Star Wars.

January 14th – Skeleton Crew concludes on Disney Plus: The smash-hit show comes to an end on Tuesday 14th January, with fingers crossed that we’ll be getting news of much more from the Crew, perhaps at Celebration Japan. Ravi Cabot-Conyers is winging his way to Olympia for London Comic Con Spring after his appearance onstage at Celebration Europe back in 2023, which hopefully means the rest of this charming young cast will be heading out to events to meet and greet the fandom face-to-face.

February 25th – Reign of the Empire: The Mask of Fear: From author Alexander Freed, The Mask of Fear will arrive 25th February as a novel and an audiobook after its ARC release at New York Comic Con 2024. The early word is very positive indeed, so stay tuned for the book and audiobook reviews here on the site.

April 18th – 20th Star Wars Celebration Japan: After almost two years Celebration returns, taking us to Japan for three days that are sure to be jam-packed with panels, reveals, events, parties and much more besides. Fantha Tracks are heading out to cover the show, so be ready for plenty of content coming from Tokyo.

April 22nd – Andor Season 2 arrives: 881 days after ‘Rix Road‘ – the twelfth episode of season one – Andor returns to span the four years to the very start of Rogue One as Tivik and Cassian meet on the Ring of Kafrene. Director Krennic and K-2SO return from Rogue One, but who else might we see? Jyn? Darth Vader? The Emperor? Grand Moff Tarkin? Not too long to go until we find out.

May 19th – 20th anniversary of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith: Yes folks, on 19th May 2025, 7300 days will have passed since the prequel trilogy came to an end when Revenge of the Sith debuted, so there’s plenty of cause to celebrate as the second and final George Lucas-led trilogy arrives at two decades.

June 17th – Star Wars: The Acolyte: The Visual Guide to be published: The show might not be returning for a second season, but the era is thriving with the arrival of the Visual Guide by Pablo Hidalgo, The Acolyte: Wayseeker by Justina Ireland on 6th May, The Acolyte: The Crystal Crown by Tessa Gratton on 29th July and The Art of Star Wars: The Acolyte by Kristin Baver on 7th October.

September 9th – Star Wars: The Phantom Menace: A Visual Archive to be published: Following on from the excellent Return of the Jedi: A Visual Archive this year, get ready for The Phantom Menace which will dive deep into the waters of Naboo, soar high above the ecumenopolis of Coruscant and roar through the canyons of Tatooine.

December 18th – Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens 10th anniversary: It might feel like it was only a couple of years ago, but the sequel trilogy kicked off a decade ago with the arrival of The Force Awakens, so be prepared to celebrate Episode VII as the highest grossing movie in North American box office history enters the First Ten Years.

2024 has been another tremendously busy year for us, and we’re already deep into planning for Celebration Japan as well as a slew of conventions including Festival of the Force, Beachhead, Star Wars Fan Fun Day, Power of the Force, London Film and Comic Con, New York Comic Con, Farthest From and much more besides. As always, we’d be honored if you would join us, so we’ll see you tomorrow for 2025 on Fantha Tracks.
