Two men who have been front and center of entertainment news for very different reasons are John Boyega and Johnny Depp, and while they have yet to work together on a project there’s a unique connection between the two actors. While attending a class at the University of Greenwich, a pyrotechnic explosion led John to run out and investigate which led to a life changing moment, as Boyega explains.

“We looked down and I saw Johnny Depp on top of two carriages, balancing himself, as Jack Sparrow. I saw what I wanted to do. I thought God sent the whole film set right here. He sent a film that I would love to star in, that I’d love to be a part of. I never went back.”

He didn’t, much like Finn he followed his heart and his destiny, dedicating himself to the acting profession; a gut decision as Star Wars fans we’ve all benefited from.
