With Daisy Ridley announced to be returning to the role of Rey Skywalker in Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoys forthcoming film set 15 years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker, it’s only to be expected that people will wonder whether or not John Boyega, the actor who shared much of the journey with Ridley, will also return. Nothing has been announced, but Boyega has made it very clear that should the day come that he returns, you’ll be hearing about it from him first.

Speaking with Tech Radar he was asked a smiliar question, and he explained where he stands with that.

“I’m open to all characters and scripts that are enjoyable, have a great cast attached, and a terrific director. So yeah, I’m open to all opportunities.”

“It’s so difficult to manoeuvre. You get yourself involved in projects and you’re not necessarily going to like everything,”

“[But] what I would say to Disney is do not bring out a Black character, market them to be much more important in the franchise than they are, and then have them pushed to the side. It’s not good. I’ll say it straight up.”

“They gave all the nuance to Adam Driver, all the nuance to Daisy Ridley. Let’s be honest. Daisy knows this. Adam knows this. Everybody knows. I’m not exposing anything.”

Over in the Independant, Boyega was asked about his favourite Sequel trilogy entry, and he had no hesitation to give an answer, which to some may seem controversial.

“Star Wars – The Force Awakens is most definitely the best. Second for me comes Star Wars 9, and then the worst, in the most respectful sense is Episode VIII for me.”

Boyega then said, while cheekily side-eyeing the camera: “But they’re all lovely.”

Boyega’s latest film They Cloned Tyrone arrives on Netflix tomorrow, and here’s the trailer.

It’s the most John has spoken about Star Wars in a fair while, so his socials would seem to be ones to keep an eye on.
