Much loved English and Swazi actor / author Richard E. Grant, and BIFA award-winning British actress Naomi Ackie have been added to the cast of Episode IX.
Grant whom was a friend of the late Carrie Fisher announced his joy at the casting on twitter:
I saw @starwars in 1977 when I was at Drama School. Being cast in the final instalment of the Skywalker trilogy in 2018, feels like an utterly out of body experience! #StarWars 💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫💫 thank you #ninagold pic.twitter.com/ldJQNLFlsd

Fans of science fiction will recognise Grant from his work on Doctor Who, but his most celebrated work remains his breakout role in Withnail and I, and Bram Stokers Dracula. Younger fans will have seen him in 2017’s Logan, and on HBO’s Game of Thrones. For me however he will always be known for his amazing work on the London stages.
Naomi Ackie broke onto the scene in 2015 on Doctor Who before winning awards and plaudits for her performance in 2016’s Lady MacBeth. A stunning performance that saw her pick up the Most Promising Newcomer Award from the British Independent Film Awards.
If you not familiar with her work her showreel is available on her agents website.
The new cast reveals were part of a wider announcement about the cast and crew for Episode IX.
