Sit down, take a deep breath and then read that headline – 8 years ago today, the cast of Episode VII was announced. We had familiar faces – Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Anthony Daniels – new faces – Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson – genre favourites – Max Von Sydow, Andy Serkis – and those sadly no longer with us – Carrie Fisher, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker, all coming together under director J.J. Abrams to create the highest grossing film in US Box office history ($936,662,225) and the fourth highest grossing film worldwide in history with $2,064,615,817 in the bank and only Titanic, Avengers: End Game and Avatar ahead of it.

Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in the new film.

Director J.J. Abrams says, “We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud.”

As Celebration Anaheim approaches, remember the giddy excitement we all felt 8 years ago and try to reach for that as the next wave of reveals and announcements come our way.
