2022 is almost here and as we look ahead to what’s sure to be an incredibly busy year with The Book of Boba Fett, Andor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, season two of The Bad Batch, Star Wars Celebration and much, much more now’s a good time to look back at a packed 2021 and our highlights of the year.

First off, here are the thoughts of some of the Fantha Tracks team:

Best of ’21: War of the Bounty Hunters. A well crafted multi-comic crossover that was such an enjoyable read.
Best of ’22: Kenobi is the easy choice, so I will go with Star Wars Celebration. Been far too long since the last one.
Matt Booker, Social Media Guru, co-host Canon Fodder

2021: Ordering my Leia Organa Force FX Elite lightsaber
2022: It’s imminent arrival in 2022!
Clair Henry, co-host Planet Leia

The best Star Wars part of 2021 was the news that Dark Horse Comics is returning to regular Star Wars publishing. For 30 years they lead the publishing platform with challenging and interesting storytelling, and whilst they have continued with the occasional Star Wars tome since Marvel took over the Star Wars license, this is the first time they will return to original storytelling.
What I’m most looking forward to in 2022 from Star Wars? Dark Horse Comics returning…
Brian Cameron, co-host Canon Fodder

Apart from the fact that 2021 whizzed by faster than a speeding Jedi Vector, my fave Star Wars things from 2021 were the satisfaction of a consistently solid first season of The Bad Batch which delivered some excellent adventures, great world-building and IMHO the best voice work of any Star Wars animated series so far and the double-whammy of War of the Bounty Hunters (fuelling my love of the ESB to ROTJ era) and The High Republic, which has been a fascinating dip into a new age.
As for 2022, there’s a LOT of great things to choose from, but I’ll plumb for the joy of catching up with friends old and new at Celebration Anaheim in May and the start of the run up to Scarif and Yavin in Andor, which I’m convinced will be a truly sensational series. And of course the contributions of the Fantha Tracks team, which I’m eternally grateful for no matter what year it is.
Mark Newbold, Daily Content Manager and co-host Making Tracks

Best Star Wars thing of 2021 for me is Star Wars Visions. It was like a breath of fresh air and so different yet still familiar. Kurosawa influenced George Lucas, and it was excellent seeing that influence going deeper in Visions.
What I’m looking forward to in 2022 is Obi-Wan Kenobi show and seeing Ewan back in the role, but also celebrating 15 years of Darth Elvis and hopefully getting back out there for some shows. Oh, and recording more Desert Planet Discs with my brother Carl Bayliss!
Greig Robertson, co-host Desert Planet Discs

The best thing from 2021 was The Bad Batch, and getting Droids & Ewoks on Disney Plus, and the subsequent Droids 6″ Hasbro figure announcement.
2022 I’m looking forward to both Kenobi and Andor equally. It’s also Elstree Base’s 20th Anniversary so looking forward to celebrating that with the Rebels and of course the Fanthas will be invited too!
Mark Mulcaster, CO of the Rebel Legion UK and co-host Making Tracks

Best Star Wars moment of 2021- Star Wars event at Croydon. Had a great chat with Ackbar pupeteer Tim Rose, and voice actor Lewis McCleod – Sebulba from TPM.
Most anticipated thing for 2022? If I don’t say Start Your Engines podcast, Brian will!! 😎
Paul Naylor, co-host Start Your Engines (eventually)

Crosshair’s story was my favourite in The Bad Batch. I am looking forward to Andor the most, I hope it will be way more kickass than most of the fans anticipated. Favorite thing of 2021 was to watch great Star Wars shows like The Mandalorian and now The Book Of Boba Fett.
I am looking forward to seeing as many of my online friends @SW_Celebration in May right after my Birthday!
Patty Hammond, Planet Leia panelist

Best thing for 2021 – tie between Bad Batch and Visions.
2022 – Andor
Carl Bayliss, co-host Desert Planet Discs

Here’s what some of our fellow bloggers, website runners, podcasters and friends from across the galaxy thought.

2’1: The growing THR fan community. The enthusiasm has been a shot in the arm every time I’ve come online and have seen everyone’s joy and creativity. Star Wars fans are the best.
As for ’22: CELEBRATION. Nuff said.
Cavan Scott (author) @CavanScott

Favorite thing of 2021 Podathon, and I am looking forward to meeting all of my friends at Star Wars Celebration in 22!
Pete Fletzer @ATGcast

Favorite thing was definitely the launch of The High Republic Era. It’s been an incredible journey!
I’m looking forward to Celebration next year (hopefully). Chicago was a life changing experience and I can wait to be surrounded with like minded people who love Star Wars.

My favorite thing of Star Wars was probably The Rising Storm, and I’m looking forward to Shadows of the Sith!
@sliceofkatie

Favourite thing of  ‘21 @FanthaTracks and I’m just looking forward to @starwars in 2022
@LoweryNeil

My fave thing was how the Star Wars comics made use of the medium to tell interlocking and connected tales arising out of the War of the Bounty Hunters crossover event and beyond into Crimson Reign and in 2022, Hidden Empire. Also liked how The High Republic lore was seeded throughout the comics, too.
To me, it shows the positive aspects of tying the lore together without giving away too much of what’s to come.
Matt More (Star Wars Splash Page podcast) @SWSplashPagePod

Fave thing of 2021: being part of @starwarsawakens and @swpodcastnl
Looking forward to in 2022: all the new Star Wars shows and hope to meet some of you!
Rob van der Werf  (Star Wars Awakens) @RvdW1982

#MakeSolo2Happen Day was a lot of fun. Fans coming together to show love for ‘Solo’, and just how communal and fun everyone always is about it.
Really looking forward to SWCA in May, seeing old friends, making new ones, and having an overall blast celebrating Star Wars!
John Hoey (The Resistance Broadcast / SWNN)  @JohnnyHoey

Fav of 2021 was getting to speak to the voice of Hondo, Jim Cummings – Farthest From – appearing on Making Tracks at FF and of course having a go at podcasting with Star Wars Spins – looking forward to more spins – the Disney Plus Star Wars stuff and adding to the Zuveum.
Martin Keeler (Zuveum, Star Wars Spins) @Zuveum

Crosshair’s story was my favourite in The Bad Batch.
I am looking forward to Andor the most, I hope it will be way more kickass than most of the fans anticipated.
Ben Foldi (Ziro.hu) @BenFoldi

My favourite thing was the start of The High Republic and the fact that it made me get into comics and connected us even more as fans of expansive and unique storytelling.
I’m looking forward to more of these stories in 2022 and more conversations about them!
Patricia Beiten (@JediBibliothek and @swbooks) @patriciabeiten

The ‘Rising Storm’ novel, ‘Star Wars: Visions,’ and ‘Terrifying Tales.’
Maggie Lovvit (@wealthofgeeks and @Collider) @Maggieofthetown

Really difficult to just pick one thing! Content wise I’ve loved The High Republic & Visions and I’m looking forward to Andor & Kenobi series.
But I’ve also had a great time running my blog, meeting fellow Star Wars fans online & IRL, so I hope that continues into 2022. MTFBWY
Starbird Files (Starbird Files Blog) @StarbirdFiles

Andor.
Loved this character in Rogue One and I’m looking forward to discovering what made him so dark.
Richard Astill @therichastill

My favorite part of 2021 was the way Claudia Gray challenged what it meant to be a Jedi when your view of the Force clashed with what the Jedi Order preached in Into the Dark.
Although I love Kenobi, the Andor series is what I’m looking forward to the most in 2022
Radio Rebellion @RadioRebelPod

Easily The Book of Boba Fett premiere. I was shocked to see some of the reactions too it. I thought it was a solid, and compelling pilot. Couldn’t look away.
The thing I’m looking forward to most is Kenobi!
Kredik @TheKredik

Neil Livesey (Star Wars Fan Fun Day) @unclenezzer

Favorite thing was the High Republic, it’s a brand new era of Star Wars that feels new and is giving us interesting new conflicts and views on the Jedi.
I’m most looking forward to the Obi-Wan show and finally getting to go to Celebration.
Paul De Paola @PaulDePaola

The best thing about 2021 was the amazing response to Boba Fett’s return in The Mandalorian. And then to cap it all off – the announcement of #TheBookOfBobaFett. Three decades of hopes and dreams coming to fruition!
Phil Roberts (Future of the Force) @philthecool

‘21 was the year I joined @Broaxium I absolutely love my fellow Bro-Hosts, & I’m so grateful to be able to work with them.
‘22 will be the year I get to actually meet a lot of them AND so many other friends in person at Celebration…and I’m literally counting the days.
Jaxxon the Lepi (@Broaxium) @JaxxontheLepi

Favorite thing of 2021 was The Rising Storm.
In 2022, I’m most looking forward to see how wave 2 of THR begins (if we get it later in the year) and to see what chaos Doctor Aphra causes.
Gios Reviews @StellanGios1

Favorite @starwars bit from 2021: #TheBookofBobaFett. Solid first episode, definitely pumped for more.
For 2022: Kenobi and I will be finally diving head first into all of The High Republic books, plus continuing my show and loving the Star Wars life.
The Book of Bright Suns Podcast @BrightSunsMedia

Certainly The High Republic! I’ve always loved Star Wars books, but THR made me more obsessed with Star Wars publishing than I’ve been in quite some time!
And I guess I’m most looking forward to more THR as well. And all the D+ series. Especially Andor (and Kenobi, obviously)
Tobias Raum/TobiThrawn @tobias_raum

Best 2021 #StarWars is definitely The High Republic comics and books! @cavanscott & @arioanin made Jedi badass again! And in 2022 I can’t wait to see what @DarkHorseComics does with their new graphic novels in the works.
Haven Huth @HavenHuth

2021 – The Bad Batch – I will always be on the side of the Empire, so this has everything for me, was I slightly supporting the Batch (Maybe!!)
2022 – Looking forward to seeing the “Emperor” cameo in all the TV series!! (“I Have Died Before.”)
Darth Fuss @DarthFuss

Favorite thing from ’21 was probably the premiere of THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT.
In ’22, I’m most looking forward to either KENOBI or @ghostfinder book SHADOW OF THE SITH.
Jacob and Eli (Star Wars: In a Galaxy) @InaGalaxyPod

Favorite thing(s) of ‘21: In terms of storytelling we experienced? I’d say the relationships in The Bad Batch. In terms of fandom? Expanding @AhchToRadio to include its second & third shows.

Looking forward to: Kenobi and hopefully the return of Liam Neeson as Qui-Gon in it!
Robby Weidemann (SW Shot by Shot) @robby_weidemann

The Bad Batch and Thrawn Ascendancy: Lesser Evil were both fantastic additions to the Star Wars universe in 2021. And while there’s a lot to be excited about in 2022, by far my most anticipated release is the Obi-Wan Kenobi series!

I loved The Bad Batch and Lesser Evil and cannot wait to see Kenobi! I have been waiting for that for so long!
Matt Rushing (@The602Club) @mattrushing02

Marcus Dohring (@501stLegion and @The501stCast co-host) @TK14057

The LFL 50th Anniversary collections Hasbro produced this year were a lot of fun! Visions was a gem which is under-appreciated! And while I believe Andor will be a sleeper hit in 2022, Kenobi will be the milestone of the year for OT and PT fans!

First off, here are the thoughts of some of the Fantha Tracks team:

Best of ’21: War of the Bounty Hunters. A well crafted multi-comic crossover that was such an enjoyable read.

Crosshair’s story was my favourite in The Bad Batch.

Ben Foldi (Ziro.hu) @BenFoldi

The Bad Batch and Thrawn Ascendancy: Lesser Evil were both fantastic additions to the Star Wars universe in 2021. And while there’s a lot to be excited about in 2022, by far my most anticipated release is the Obi-Wan Kenobi series!
