Slashfilm caught up with The Mandalorian actor Giancarlo Esposito – better known to audiences worldwide as Gus Fring from Breaking Bad – and briefly touched upon his upcoming role in the Disney Plus show.

“In a way, you might call him an underworld character. You may also look at him as a savior, as someone who might bring back some order to the world after it’s all collapsed.”

And regarding his filming in The Volume, where a sizeable portion of the show is filmed, suggesting his character may be somewhat otherworldly.

“It could suggest that,. We are working in The Volume. It’s a very specific atmosphere and quite fascinating to work in. I don’t want to spoil anything for you but that does suggest I might have a different persona. Who knows?”

Surprisingly for an actor of his stature, he’s not seen a frame of the film.

“I have not, so I’ll be as surprised as you, man.”

Expect to learn more about the show at D23 next month, which will have Fantha Tracks representation in the form of Martin Keeler.
