In 1977, George Lucas shot Star Wars in the deserts of Tunisia, and in one particular sequence, Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) drank a concoction – Blue Milk. I guess whatever space cow secreted this stuff is fairly common, becoming a “thing” you drink in the Star Wars galaxy. In our world, there’s something called a milk run, meaning a simple trip. Star Wars has a blue milk run (also the name of a band from Boston) courtesy of Inferno Squad. They even mentioned blue milk in the modern Marvel comics, making it a method to make fun of young Luke Skywalker.
There are also webcomics by that name (https://www.bluemilkspecial.com/). As an old hermit, Luke would switch to green milk that he himself would collect right from the creatures….
But that’s another story.
For May the 4th, TruMoo announced that they would be selling a special kind of milk – blue milk – to the general public. No more would one have to buy blue food coloring and add it to normal milk! The only problem for Fanthatracks.com is that it’s only available in the United States, so I took it upon myself and looked for it in my local stores. Turns out in my area nobody got the stuff until after May the 4th.
That wonderful blue color is apparently made by a combination of Blue 1 and Red 40 with less than 1% of natural flavors, plus something called carrageenan. Carrageenan is based on seaweed and been used in processed food since the beginning of processed food. Probably why it all tastes so good.
