Well, there’s a challenge to the powers that be as speaking with Sirius XM, Oscar Isaac makes it reasonably clear that if a great story helmed by a great director were to appear for Poe Dameron, he’d be ‘so open to it’..

“I’m open to anything, you never know, but I have no real feeling one way or the other. I’m open to any kind of good story, good thing to do. Times the one thing that becomes much more challenging as you get older with kids and all that, it’s like where’s these things fit in, realising there’s not time for all of it. But, if there’s a great story and a great director and Kathy came to me and said ‘hey, we’ve got this idea’, I’m so open to it.”

Of the big three in the sequel trilogy, the one hold out would understandably be Oscar Isaac, but as the Star Wars story expands and new projects arrive, as well as existing ones expanding, perhaps the door is creaking ajar for the sequel trilogy era. We shall see.
