Star Wars Andor season 2: The rebellion waits for another year

While the good news is that 2024 will bring us the debut seasons of The Acolyte and Skeleton Crew, the second season of Tales of the Jedi and the third and final season of The Bad Batch, the second and final season of Andor – which was announced on the main stage of Celebration Europe 4 to be arriving August 2024 – is nowhere to be seen. Hardly surprising, given the tumultuous summer and autumn 2023 gave us in the form of the writers and actors strikes, and IGN take a closer look at the situation.

Disney’s list of films and shows premiering in 2024 includes those with specific dates and those without, but Andor is absent from both lists. Star Wars is otherwise present with The Acolyte, Skeleton Crew, The Bad Batch Season 3, and Tales of the Jedi Season 2 all listed with the vague 2024 release window.

Andor Season 2’s August 2024 premiere was announced at Star Wars Celebration in April 2023 but the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) and Writers Guild of America (WGA) strikes likely pushed it back. Its team was active on the picket lines, with writer Beau Willimon even starting a “one way out” in New York City to mimic the show.

It’s hard to be too frustrated when there’s a buffet of GFFA content coming our way in 2024, nevermind the many potential reveals and updates the year will surely bring, but consider this; in days past, waiting three years between Star Wars episodes was very much the norm, so take this as a sign that the second season of Andor will be something very special indeed.
