With the show just a week away, the eyes of the Star Wars galaxy are laser focused on what’s to come when The Acolyte arrives on Disney Plus on 4th and 5th June, and with the show set a century ahead of The Phantom Menace era you could be forgiven for expecting zero familiar faces to be appearing in the show. However, this is Star Wars, with characters like Huyang who is millennia old, Yoda who at this point is 800 years old and even Chewbacca who would almost be in his 70’s (a mere Wookiee teenager). As The Living Force revealed, there are Jedi Council members who would have been around at this time, but The Acolyte showrunner Leslye Headland made sure to underline the fact that the show won’t be leaning or relying on these characters, instead focusing on brand new characters and a handful from the already established High Republic phases.
“Can you image? Can you imagine if they were like, ‘no problem, you can use Yoda. Not a big deal.’ No there is not. We are pulling characters from The High Republic and characters from Extended Universe, but that’s it.”
Do you think she’s telling it as it is, or deflecting attention from some potentially cool cameos? We’ll be discussing this and much more on the next studio episode of Making Tracks, out next Tuesday.
