LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation – The Guide

This summer we were treated to the third animated LEGO special: Summer Vacation. In the same style of our episode guide for the various live-action series, we will post in this article every reference, Easter egg and other fun trivia that we have spotted.

Official Summary: Finn has arranged a surprise vacation for his friends aboard the Galactic Starcruiser, The Halcyon! But Finn’s plans quickly go awry when he’s separated from the group. Alone on board the Halcyon, Finn encounters three Force Spirits — Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Princess Leia, who each share their own unexpected stories of vacations gone wrong.

Trivia:
The opening with the various helmets and heads ends with a minifigure turning his head. This minifigure looks like J.J Abrams and is not his first time as a LEGO minifigure. He also appeared as a playable character in Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The globe of Chandrila seems to be inspired by the planet profile image used in the Age of Rebellion Core Rulebook.

The Halcyon is of course a tie-in to the Disney Galactic Starcruiser experience, and appropriately you can spot minifigures with the actual uniforms that Cast Members wear.

On board the Halcyon you can spot the first two cameos from LEGO The Freemaker Adventures: Ithorian bounty hunters Raam and Baash.

The Aurebesh of the Activity List mentions indeed what Poe says: Bridge Tour, Holo-Sabaac (sic) Tournament, Crown Of Corellia Dining Room, Sundeck and the Engineering Room Tour.

Threepio and Artoo with Christmas sweaters bring to mind the LEGO Holiday Special, yet they never wore sweaters in it. Poe’s sweater did have BB-8 on it.

Finn being sad with a beverage while talking to a ghost in an empty lounge brings The Shining in mind. There a sad (and angry) Jack Torrance gets his drink from a ghost bartender while he is in an empty hotel lounge.

The droid bartender’s name BV-RJ is a play on the word beverage.

Yerdua Drop is short for Yerdua Poison Spitter Drop, a drink you can order during Galactic Starcruiser. It is non-alcoholic, so Finn is not drunkenly imagining Obi-Wan’s Force ghost.

A fair few of familiar faces from the Cantina can be spotted there besides Wuher (who is seen kicking out a GNK droid): Dr Evazan, Ponda Baba, Figrin D’an and the Modal Nodes, Labria and Momaw Nadon. Strangely enough a couple of the other local barflies decided they rather hang out at Jabba’s Palace.

Typical western suspense music can be heard when Obi-Wan enters the Cantina.

Lieutenant Colvett Valeria is another familiar face from The Freemaker Adventures, but she is not the only one from that series that appears in the Tatooine segment. The Imperial arriving at Jabba’s Palace is Plumestriker.

The sign the Jawa’s try to hang up reads “Happy Birthday Jabba” in Aurebesh.

Valeria’s Hawaiian dress matches the red shirt with yellow flowers motif that Tom Selleck wore in Magnum PI, which was also referenced with Dale’s outfit in The Rescue Rangers.

Obi-Wan tries to get the crowd excited and mentions “Nee Jabba” to which the crowd should respond to with “Nobata”. “Nee Jabba Nobata” is said by Bib Fortuna in Return of the Jedi when the droids enter Jabba’s Palace. Spelling of this line varies in various sources.

The female Gamorrean that can be seen is based on Ralph McQuarrie’s art of a Gamorrean family in the palace that he had made for The Illustrated Star Wars.

When Boba Fett appears in his ship you hear the final end credits version of his The Book of Boba Fett theme, poking fun at how that version suddenly mentions his name.

Grogu’s pram design is used in the pool at the sundeck.

During the Empire Day celebration you can hear the Wilhelm Scream, but also the Imperial March remix that was heard in Rebels during the, you guessed it, Empire Day celebration episode.

The Ronto wraps can be ordered in Galaxy’s Edge at Ronto Roasters.

Featured in many promos, so not really unknown, but the great “Weird Al” Yankovic can be seen in this second segment story as Vic Vankoh. Find the full version of his song Scarif Beach party here.

These kind of shows feature a nice mix of actual minifiguress that you can buy, but also new designs that we hope we can one day get for real like the RX-droid seen in the Han/Leia story.

And the last returning face from The Freemaker Adventures is Cooper Wick, now running the Lake Villages of Endor.

The earlier mentioned The Illustrated Star Wars is also the first time that Ralph McQuarrie designed the Ewok stilt villages on the lake that clearly inspired Wick’s Lake Ewok.

Lake Ewok is also the name of the lake on Skywalker Ranch property.

The four Ewoks we see threatening Wick are Paploo (albeit somewhat updated with more details compared to the original minifigure), Chief Chirpa, the Ewok Warrior from set 10236 Ewok Village and the fourth appears to be a recolor of the digital Chief Chirpa model

One of the Ewoks calls Wick a Lurdo – a popular word for idiot or loser as seen in the Ewoks cartoon. So Threepio is really rusty in their dialect by translating it as “slimy, sludge-swilling scoundrel“.
