Not a bad return after just 4 weeks. The Last Jedi has risen to a worldwide total of $1,264,949,584, easing it into the all-time top ten highest grossing global films edging past Beauty and the Beast and sitting just behind Frozen in 9th. That position looks to be taken by next weekend, and then it’s another $65 million on to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 in 8th position.

With China petering out fast and the film slowing in all markets, that might be achievable, but with Age of Ultron another $64 million ahead of that, 8th is as far as it’s likely to get.

Domestically the film is in 6th position on the all-time list with $591,549,584. It looks likely to pass $600 million by this time next week which will make it only the 6th film to do so. It’s currently $31.9 million behind The Avengers in 5th place, a gap that may be a step too far.

On the overseas chart the film now enters the all-time top 30 with $673,400,000. An impressive amount no doubt, but almost certainly the most disappointing part of the films box office journey so far. The film sits just ahead of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 and just behind Spectre with the likelihood of reaching $700 million, joining just 25 other films to have done so.

By way of comparison, The Last Jedi is currently $458.2 million behind The Force Awakens overseas and $345.2 million domestically, making an $803.3 difference worldwide.
