While it’s hard to imagine a better stab at a young Han Solo than the one delivered by Alden Ehrenreich, a LOT of young actors were looked at for the role in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Among those was Taron Egerton, best known for his role in the Kingsman series and speaking with the Happy Sad Confused podcast he revealed how far down the casting road he travelled, and why the role ultimately wasn’t for him.
“I felt that, I’ll be honest, I got on the Falcon, I was with Chewie, I was in the costume. I got there, I did it, I lived it.
“There was another round, I decided not to do it. It just felt to me like I didn’t feel ‘I’ve got to do this, this is my part’. You’re following Harrison Ford, no one ever wants to follow Harrison Ford.”
“It’s hard, isn’t it? I feel like there’s an unspoken thing in Hollywood where it feels almost taboo to talk about the conversations you’ve had that never came to a reality. But I don’t care about that.”
Hard to imagine the actor who played Eddie the Eagle and Elton John playing Han Solo, but then again there’s a possibility Egerton could be the new Wolverine over in the MCU, so who knows.
