For people of a certain age the brand name Palitoy means an awful lot, and to the folks who live in or near Coalville – the home of Palitoy from 1919 to 1994 – it’s still very much a part of their world even thirty years after the factory was closed by Hasbro. That said, even though Star Wars left Coalville decades ago, a little bit of the GFFA still exists and Auto Shenanigans visited Leicestershire to see what’s still there.
Sometimes, the story writes itself. Thanks to a tip off on twitter from @ghosthuntteam I paid a visit to Leicestershire to look at a roundabout. Not just any roundabout… it looks awfully familiar… or at least if you’re a sci-fi fan, it should do.
But about that story… the reason why this roundabout exists brings over a sense of pride because it was the good old fashioned English industry that lead to it’s creation as well as a legacy for the town of Coalville. Palitoy.
