Podathon is back for 2024, and the team behind the event bring news of the participating podcasts and the first wave of guests, and be sure to stay tuned as we’ll bring all the news as the days count down to the broadcast on May the 4th.
On May 4, 2024, the Star Wars fan community is set to unite once again for PODATHON 2024, an all-day marathon event in support of Make-A-Wish America. Hosted online at ThePodathon.com, this fourth annual fundraiser aims to make dreams a reality for children facing critical illnesses.
Starting at 9am EST and continuing until late evening, Star Wars enthusiasts, celebrities, and content creators will join forces in a livestream extravaganza dedicated to raising funds for Make-A-Wish. Throughout the day, viewers can tune in to enjoy content from a dozen of the most popular Star Wars fan creators while having the opportunity to contribute directly through the PODATHON MAKE-A-WISH online platform. Every donation received will directly benefit the foundation.
Pete Fletzer, one of the event organizers, expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support from the Star Wars community, stating, “The STAR WARS fan community is made up of some of the most generous and caring people I’ve ever met. The outpouring of support in years past has been so powerful and more than we honestly expected.” Since its inception in 2020, PODATHON has raised over $27,000 for Make-A-Wish.
Celebrity guests confirmed so far include Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian), Paul Sun-Hyung Lee (The Mandalorian, The Last Airbender, Kim’s Convenience), and Pablo Hidalgo and Matt Martin (Lucasfilm Story Group), LeAndre Thomas (Director Visions: The Pit), Justin Ridge (LFL Animation), Michael Siglain (LFL Publishing), authors Zoraida Córdova, Lydia Kang and Tessa Gratton, Jordan Hembrough (Our Star Wars Stories). More guests will be announced leading up to the day.
In addition, for every $10 donated directly to Make-A-Wish will get the donor an entry to win great prizes from Regal Robot, Denuo Novo, 2797 Studios, Insight Editions, Chronicle Books, Lucasfilm, and more plus autographs from actors like Vanessa Marshall (Hera Syndulla on Rebels).
Becca Benjamin, another member of the event team, emphasized the community’s commitment to giving back, saying, “Our shared love of the STAR WARS universe has led us to opportunities to get to know so many amazing people. Giving back to the community in the form of a wonderful charity like MAKE-A-WISH feels like a natural thing to do.”
More details about the event will be announced in the coming weeks leading up to May 4, 2024. Follow @ThePodathon on Twitter and Instagram for updates, and visit ThePodathon.com for further information.
