There might be no plans to return to the world of Firefly, a series Star Wars fans took to heart almost a quarter of a century ago when the prospects of a Star Wars live action TV show were slim, but almost 25 years later after that one, glorious season Alan Tudyk and Nathan Fillion are back with a new podcast called Once, We Were Spacemen, where the duo talk with fellow Firefly cast members and plenty of other folks besides. This past weekends Denver Fan Expo saw an audience member bring up the subject of the podcast, much to the apparent surprise of Tudyk.
“Oh! [Laughs] Right. So, nobody knows this thing because we haven’t…So, Nathan Fillion and I are going to do – I know you’re gonna be like, ‘I’ve never heard of anyone doing this before,’ – but we’re gonna do a podcast. We wanted to, you know, break some ground where we talk to our favorite, uh, sci-fi actors and other actors. People who were on Firefly, people who were not on Firefly, and sometimes we just talk to each other. Thrilling. It is interesting how much we do get along, talking to one another. I hope people enjoy that, but, um, I have no date to tell you when we’re gonna… We’ve done a lot of ’em. We have, like, a bank of Once, We Were Spacemen, [which is] the name of the show. And, when we do finally…You see, Nathan’s kind of in charge of that. He’s kind of in charge of everything. He’s the captain. So, once the captain lets me know what’s going on with that…As it stands, I just show up and do my part.”
