Star Wars: The Fall of Kylo Ren (2026) #3

THE FALL OF FREEDOM

PART 3: DEATHLESS

The young tyrant’s quest for power is at its apex. But with his renewed pride comes….

Supreme Leader Kylo Ren received an unexpected peace offering from Tava Ren: an ancient dark side artifact.

This “gift” was revealed as a trap when it drew a mysterious assassin droid to the First Order fleet. Kylo destroyed the droid and prevented the Knights of Ren from escaping, leaving them to answer for their deception.

But the thwarted attack was only the beginning….

Out the airlock! Kylo Ren is vicious from panel one towards his Knights of Ren and Tava, a recently revealed new member. In what seems like an extreme space version of waterboarding, he Force pushes all seven of them into space, only to pull them back moments later. It proves a productive technique, but is not the only precarious situation they face in The Fall of Kylo Ren #3 – Part 3: Deathless, by Charles Soule.

Tava is terrified, but more so about the droid Kylo Ren thinks he destroyed, than Kylo himself. He demands to know more about the droid, so Tava takes a step back to explain the history leading to it. She starts telling the backstory of the Umbral Shard, the black crystalline artifact she presented to Kylo in the previous issue, and it leads to the name, Aavin Bellor. The name comes out during a fight in the shop of Colo Magreel and his family—and when it ends, Tava and the Knights have the piece they were hunting for.

They provide it to Aavin Bellor for their pay—but then, upon discovering the power of the artifact, double-cross the buyer, leaving him for dead. But was he? Now some nature of hybrid physical droid with a constantly evolving AI mind, is after anyone who uses the Umbral Shard. It started with Teva and the Knights of Ren, but now, thanks to them, includes Kylo Ren as well.

And this issue ends with a new and improved droid body boarding the First Order flagship Steadfast. It has learned more about Kylo Ren and is ready for their next duel.
