How Johnny Depp helped inspire John Boyega to pursue a film career

Two men who have been front and center of entertainment news for very different reasons are John Boyega and Johnny Depp, and while they have yet to work together on a project there’s a unique connection between the two actors. While attending a class at the University of Greenwich, a pyrotechnic explosion led John to run out and investigate which led to a life changing moment, as Boyega explains.

“We looked down and I saw Johnny Depp on top of two carriages, balancing himself, as Jack Sparrow. I saw what I wanted to do. I thought God sent the whole film set right here. He sent a film that I would love to star in, that I’d love to be a part of. I never went back.”

He didn’t, much like Finn he followed his heart and his destiny, dedicating himself to the acting profession; a gut decision as Star Wars fans we’ve all benefited from.
