Path of Exile 2: A release that is likely to wait until 2022

After long months of absence, Path of Exile 2 resurfaces through Chris Wilson, the studio director.

The release is delayed because of the pandemic

Already in June 2020, we learned that the beta of Path of Exile 2 would be delayed until 2021. “Our priority was to get our leagues out in time, as much as possible, which means delaying the Path of Exile sequel,” the Grinding Gear Games team said at the time. Since then, it has been difficult to get any news.

Announced in November 2019, Path of Exile 2 is set to host a new campaign of 7 acts that will bring to the same endgame as the first one, graphical improvements, 19 new ancestry classes, and a completely redesigned gem system. The composition is by Kamil Orman Janowski, the studio’s emblematic musician. In a telephone interview with PC Gamer, studio director Chris Wilson spoke this week about the development challenges at the time of COVID-19.

“I hate to blame COVID for stuff, but that is a big part of it at the moment. We’ve had difficulty recruiting internationally because New Zealand’s borders are closed, which has somewhat hindered the exponential growth of our creative team. Development progress has not been as fast as we would have liked, so our aim is to work as hard as we can in 2021 on Path of Exile 2 and see what progress we make.”

When asked about a likely release in 2022, Wilson says, “Yes, I think that’s accurate”. In the meantime, Path of Exile will be hosting the 3.13 Echoes of the Atlas extension on January 15 on PCs (and January 22 on consoles). The opportunity to discover new environments at the end of the game as well as a handful of new bosses.

Players will have to wait the Path of Exile 2 release

While the players are expecting the release of Path of Exile 2, they have plenty of options to continue playing. Indeed, in New Zealand and all around the world, a lot of bookmakers are here to permit everybody to have fun with some traditional and new casino games like poker, blackjack, slot machines, etc. These games, that are becoming more and more popular, have some advantages that players can find within some video games such as GTA for example. With a casino in the gameplay, players can enter and have a sit at a table of poker or behind a slot machine for example.

The main advantage of online casinos is for sure the entertainment and the design of the games they offer. Players can also play in real time with a real dealer and can chat with their competitors to add more fun to the game, like if they were in a real casino but safely at home! At these times where the safety and health are the priority for everyone, it is important to be able to keep contacts with other people to avoid isolation. That’s why live games, whereas it is on an online casino or in another video game, are a good way to keep a connection with the real life.

So, if you don’t know what to play before the release of Path of Exile 2, you can have a try on online casinos or try yourself at some older video games. And you, tell us what will you do waiting for this expected release?
