Game developers and casinos are inclined to create games based on films because they can use the screening’s success to help them play into the hands of their consumers. If a film has had rave hits at the box office or a certain aspect of the film, there is a good chance that any video game or slot game can follow in its footsteps within the gaming community.
The games become relatable before the first spin has been made or the gamer has picked up the controller. Just turn your attention to the many Tomb Raider games made by different developers, or why competitive casinos such as RoyalVegas CA is always looking to add film-based slot titles to their offerings.
Star Wars is another franchise that has been transformed into an agglomeration of video games. But we aren’t here to talk about all the best Star Wars games you spent your youth playing. Let’s talk about the Star Wars games we wish developers would create…
#1: Flying-Based Game
Star Wars is not short of action in the air and it is so surprising that game developers and slot makers have not considered tapping into the aerial battles of Star Wars. There are snippets of this action in some games, such as Battlefront, but no game is truly dedicated to it. The starfighters are waiting… and so are we.
#2: Strategy Star Wars Game
When you think of a strategy game like the great XCOM, you don’t often think of the lightning-paced action that Star Wars is known for. A slower more meticulous quest has not been explored by the Star Wars characters before, but maybe they should. The game could work thematically if you position it post an alien war where humanity is trying to restore itself, or back in the rebellion period.
#3: We Want More RPG
Role Playing Games (RPG) have been done many times with huge success and that includes Star Wars. The film is based on a compelling narrative and these style games suit video games well. However, it has been a while since Knights of the Old Republic came out and another should be made. This is even truer after recent successes in this gaming genre from The Witcher and Dragon Age.
#4: Arcade Racers (Podracing)
The Star Wars comics and books mention podracing countless times but only a handful of times have these races played out on a Star Wars game. The most notable was the classic Star Wars Racer Revenge, which has now been remade for the PS4.
The franchise has an opportunity to play around more in this area of the films and comics to deliver timeless classics. Considering the popularity of these games increasing due to the likes of Mario Kart, it really wouldn’t be a bad move.
Maybe one day – in a galaxy far far away…
