The legendary Bernard Hill will be attending Sheffield Comic-Con to meet fans and sign autographs. Bernard is undoubtedly a familiar face to most due to him appearing in some of the biggest blockbusters ever made as well as having a role in classic 80s tragicomedy ‘Boys From The Black Stuff’ being the funny-and-sad Yosser Hughes having one of the most popular catchphrases during the Thatcher era…”Gizza job!”
From starting his career in 1975, Bernard has appeared in numerous films and tv productions. Such as roles in Gandhi, Shirley Valentine, The Scorpion King as well as in James Cameron’s Titanic in which he had the role of Captain Smith. However, the role of King Theoden in The Lord Of The Rings films is what many of his fans know and love him for.
The blockbuster guests don’t stop there as this guest towers above them all. Standing at 6ft 11” Finnish actor, Joonas Suotamo, was perfect for the role of the lovable Wookiee, Chewbacca. Joonas took over the role from Peter Mayhew, first as a body double in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and later as the lead in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Solo: A Star Wars Story and in Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker. This is the first time Joonas has attended an Unleashed Event and his first appearance in the UK for quite some time so it is a great opportunity for fans of Star Wars to go along and meet him and talk about his time on the Star Wars sets.
Unleashed Events are also pleased to announce another guest from The Hobbit/Lord Of The Rings films the lively Sylvester McCoy who play the fantastical and unusual character, Radagast The Brown. As well as his eccentric role of Radagast Sylvester he is also well known for being the seventh incarnation of the Doctor in the long running sci-fi series, a role he portrayed as a comical jester with his iconic question-mark shaped umbrella. No Doctor would be complete without his companion so joining Sylvester will be Sophie Aldred who had the role of the bomber jacket wearing ‘Ace’. Sophie, who appeared as Ace alongside Sylvester, was in the show from 1987 to 1989 and who even got to beat up a Dalek with a baseball bat! Both guests are available to meet as well as having the opportunity to grab a selfie or an autograph.

A comic-con is a brief escape from reality where pop culture, ie sci-fi, superheroes, zombies, fantasy, etc., can be experienced all in one room. You can meet guests from the world of film and TV as well as seeing attractions to admire and interact with. There are geeky traders selling everything from art to collectables, items that you simply will not be able to find on the high street. People of all ages can come along in costume, maybe of their favourite film or comic book character, as it is opportunity to show off your geeky side.
