Paramount, 1981. Of any whip in the past, this is the only Harrison Ford “Indy” hero, “scene-specific” whip ever made available to private collectors. The ”dragging” whip instantly summons the legendary truck dragging sequence from Raiders of the Lost Ark. Harrison Ford “Indiana Jones” and his stuntman Terry Leonard used this highly specialized version of the iconic bullwhip, handcrafted in kip leather by master whipmaker David Morgan, and expertly modified by the film’s special effects team for one of the franchise’s most dangerous and memorable stunts. Constructed with a high tensile steel cable core terminating in loops at each end, the whip was engineered to secure both Ford (and his stunt double) to the moving vehicle, enabling Indy’s harrowing drag behind a German cargo truck. This is the only whip attributed to a specific scene and originally brought to the collector’s market FX supervisor Kit west via his 1st Assistant John Baker. Measuring approx. 12 ft. in total length, including a 2 in. loop at the tip and a 3 in. loop at the handle end, with a 5 in. section of black electrical tape reinforcing the body. Exhibiting production wear including fraying at the butt, loose braids, and expected scuffing from stunt use. In production-used very good to fine condition. Of any whip ever offered, this is the only scene-specific prop that was indisputably used by Harrison Ford as “Indiana Jones” in the legendary franchise. Accompanied by a LOP from John Baker (1st assistant to West) and accompanied by a COA from Studio Auctions. A rare “holy grail” artifact from one of cinema’s most beloved adventure sagas.
